We purchased a 718BS almost 2 months ago, '17, 2500 miles, great car. The selling dealer(non-Porsche) told me they had the oil changed.

The car is displaying "inspection now" and I suspect it is for the 2 year inspection.

I called the local Dealer as I wanted to get introduced and discuss this, and some other things with them. The person that answered the phones for the Service department seemed to be a call router more than anything else, no big deal, left a message and asked for a call back. The next day I miss a call from them, the person leaves a cell number, I leave multiple messages with no call back. Several weeks go by, I'm not in a hurry to spend $$'s on the inspection but eventually I circle back to it. This time I request an appointment online, with instructions on what I need to know, crickets still...

So I call a very reputable indie shop, talk to them, seem like great folks, highly rated, they indicate the inspection and oil change would run me $350-$400.

Based on that, I think I am going to the indie, am I missing something?

Assuming you're in the US as long as you stick to the schedule and keep receipts you should be fine. I did my 20k service at my Indie shop and then took it into the dealer for major warranty work. They just asked if I'd done the necessary service since it wasn't in their system and that was it. No issues with any of the warranty stuff I needed.
