For those 718 owners with Sport PASM (20mm lower), do you scrape the front end on driveways and speed bumps? The option is only $290 more than PASM, but seems like it could make daily street driving challenging.

I imagine the experience may be a bit different for owners in Ohio vs. Texas owners who live in or near Hill Country, where entrances to gas stations and strip malls can be very steep.

Yes!! Scrapes everywhere. Even slowing to a snails pace it scrapes.

When I had my 718 CS I avoided that option because of our steep driveway. If 718s had the option of FAL then maybe Sport PASM would be doable but not without FAL. Even with the FAL I still have to take my driveway at an angle to avoid scraping the front lip.

I got my base without any PASM to reduce scraping, and still scraped slightly when turning into my driveway. I would have loved to have GTS with SPASM, but could not picture myself parking it on the street to avoid scraping.

I live in the UK, so this may not help, but I have SPAM and have not had any scraping issues whatsoever. To be honest, I’ve been very surprised because the car does look very low, and here in the UK we do have quite a few speed bumps etc.

My 2014 Cayman without PASM scraped on my driveway until I had to remove the plastic lower spoiler strip. After redoing the slope on my driveway as a part of the construction of a garage, my 2018 Cayman with PASM does not scrape if I approach at an angle. But it will scrape on some speedhumps if I do not approach them properly.

Thanks all! Having all this time to fine tune my build has me wondering about scraping. I do have a steep driveway so I'll stick with the GTS PASM.
Couple of thing to keep in mind here.

The front end body work of a GTS is 10 mm lower, to begin with, than a base or S car. So a GTS with PASM will have the same clearance as a base or S with SPASM.

Also, SPASM is much more than just a further lowering of the car, and involves different (stiffer) sways and shocks.

The GTS is 10mm lower because it comes standard with PASM. You can optionally equip SPASM which takes it another 10mm lower. Same as the S with SPASM

It scrapes but I don't believe it's the front lip / spoiler. It's the 2 mini mudflaps (no idea what you call them) at the bottom rear end of the front arches. They are a hard plastic and, AFAIK, sacrificial.
Agree - my 2018 CGTS w/SPASM hits on the mud/aero flaps in front of the front wheels - sounds terrible - like the front of the car is being scraped to shreds, but these can be replaced (~$30 from dealer) - I've checked under the car and there maybe only a few on the very bottom of the leading edge - no issues on the track either when riding the curbs

The front on GTS is the same as Sport design package. ( -10mm)
So S with SDP and PASM has the same clearance as an GTS all over
And S without SDP but with PASM has better front clearance but the same ride height

BGTS and CGTS does not have the same front, CGTS has a bit more lip but i dont think it effects the clearance.

It appears that the GTS (and Sport Design Package) actually project slightly farther forward (of the font axle) than the base and S and this along with height will affect whether the lip contacts the pavement when encountering a dip or gutter at a drive entry. The configurator doesn't quantify this but does state that scraping can be an issue with the SDP.

When I placed the order mine, with PASM (-10mm), I forgot that when I go to work I've to go into an underground parking :eek:

My wife said me: "No problem, I'll keep the the Porsche during the week if you can't use it to go work" :|

Anyway I've been lucky, I've got only one finger of clearance but I get in without scrape :D

I have 20mm PASM on my vehicle. PASM is is activated with the console switch on those vehicle that are so equipped. There are two versions, 10mm and 20mm. You do not nor would you want to engage this option during normal driving, clearing speed bumps or traversing driveways and irregular road surfaces. I would not recommend activating this feature unless you are on a relatively flat surface, open road or of course on track. Negotiating high approach/departure angles is not what this feature was designed to do. Ground clearance is low enough as it is. Leave it off unless the circumstances warrant it's use. It wasn't designed to use all of the time. When properly used it does what it was designed to do. It is particularly useful on track or on a nice open high speed road...

You dont change the ride height with the button it is permanent -10/-20mm compared stock.
But the system is active and adjust the stiffness on the fly, so in the harder setting on a really bumpy road the dampers will be softer when they need to.

I havent tried a 718 with stock dampers but people say that PASM has more Comfort then stock.
SPASM is a bit harder then PASM but not by a mile, i have had them both and for me it is SPASM all days of the week.
