I have two 30lb dogs that behave differently. One is a very good front seat car rider so she gets to ride shotgun on occasions. I just toss a towel on the cushion.

The other one is more bouncing around so then they get the backseat of the Macan with a dog hammock.

Those of you with dogs? How do you guys manage having your dogs in your Porsche without damaging the car? I have a 20 pound mini Aussiedoodle. Wondering what do you guys do to protect the car but cruise with your pup?
We are between dogs sadly, but when we bring home our next family member I'll get one of those covers that easily slips over the seats as convertibles are a dogs best friend! And they have the pads that rest on the top of the door by the window. That's what got some tiny scratch marks with our lab and chihuahua in my other car. I have the full leather so won't take any chances. Drool comes off, scratches don't....

I have an old Honda CRV just so I don't put the dog in the sports car. It will damage the car with dog hair flying around and getting stuck on ceiling and weird places not matter what you do. One day you will need to get gas and dog muight get stressed while pumping gas and chew your shift knob or scratch glass or door panel. This happened to my friend and brand new mustang GT convertible. two minutes at a gas station and door panel destroyed.

YOu can take some steps like covering seats etc, but the real question is are you going to be ok if any of the above does happen? If so, then proceed with whatever recommendations you get.

Personally, I would be stressed, not able to take a sharp corner so it's almost silly to have such a capable sportscar. Another car that would be better suited in my humble opinion as you are already concerned enough to ask so you won't be comfortable with the dog in the car. My niece is a big dog person and takes her dog everywhere. She loved having her puppy's tounge flapping in the wind with the window down. She thought the slobber marks from the drool on the rear window glass, on the ceiling from the wind blowing the slobber back as cute. She thought it was all cute, until the dog managed to jump out the window on the freeway and she watched in her rear view mirror as the dog got hit multiple times.

That's just interesting to me that you could get a dog that size to fit while being even remotely comfortable- and not destroying the upholstery.
With one exception, that never was a problem and never had any issue at all with damaged seats. I adopted 90 Lb Tyson in 2015 when he just turned 6. I thought I was adopting a big black lab mix but he was actually a rottweiler/pit mix. There is a picture of him in my Boxster somewhere in the archives here. In 2015 I was near the end of my struggle to keep my 2002 BMW Z3 3.0i in perfect condition. At that time I was making a weekly 120 mile trip to Miami to visit my Mom in an assisted living home. I only took him with me on one trip only because it was obvious 2.5 hours was too much for him in that small space. Toward the end of the drive he was obviously needing more space to stretch out. Nevertheless, for much shorter drives he obviously loved that car and the two roadsters that followed it including my current Boxster. He did make a round trip from Florida to Iowa with me in the back seat of my X3 and seemed to enjoy every second of the drive but he had the entire seat to stretch out on. I could not walk him past any of the cars without him stopping at the door expecting me to open it so he could jump in. Sadly at the end last summer his arthritis was too painful and it was hard to see him want to get in the car but just not able to do so. 65 Lb Roxy appears completely comfortable in my Boxster and going for rides is a big deal for her although I never have, and probably never will, take her for a long ride like I did that once with Tyson. I believe both dogs were/are sufficiently smart to not want to be so eager to get in the car if it was not pleasant for them.

Yeah I'd be taking him on near-weekly trips out to his trainer, a ~40 minute trip one-way, and occasional trips out to central VA which is about 300 miles. I'm sure he'd be thrilled to come with me (he's the type that would sit next to me while on the toilet if given half a chance), but I just couldn't justify doing that in the Boxster.

And I'm not so much worried about the seats, it's more the door cards, center console, etc. He's well behaved in the car but even though I try to keep his nails trimmed they're still there and he has so much energy there's just no way I could believe that he wouldn't put innumerable scratches all over everything. God forbid if I had to leave him in the car. As mentioned he'd want to go in with me wherever I go and he barks and carries on when I'm not in the car... I don't think he'd be intentionally destructive but it's the unintentional I'd be worried about...

So while I'm glad to hear it's working for you, I'm still not convinced it would work for me ;).

As a former dog owner. The only exception would be a quiet pocket dog sitting on my wife's lap. The dog would never stay alone in the 718. My old dog (long gone), was quiet in car and never moved around (no seat belts used)....except when driving to the cottage in Maine, we would spot mooses on the road 50% of the time, the dog went crazy not good for moldings and leather....
