Anyone interested in trying this? Claims it works w/ Porsche. $129 minus $15 coupon here:

(I am fine w/ wired CarPlay since it keeps the car tidy and the iPhone charged.)

I order one and works great! I love it because I can just leave my phone in my pocket and not worry about leaving it behind in the car. I did notice from time to time it requires a reboot by unplugging it and plugging it back in. It connects fine but for some reason, the sound continues to come out of my phone instead of the car speakers. I had that issue before when I would have to plug in the phone directly, so I don't think its the wireless device.

I have one installed and it works. Happy I don't have to mess around with plugging in and placing the phone in the center console. Just get in the car and drive and CarPlay is active. No issues with the phone charge during use with nav and music. Newer iPhones hold a substantial charge.

Definitely considering this.
Looking to get CarPlay coded at the dealer and this would resolve the lack of USB connector in the console.
Isn't there a USB connector for CarPlay under the armrest?

My 992 has wireless Apple CarPlay from the factory, and this is definitely something I will miss having when driving in my 718, so maybe I should try this dongle out.
But in the 992 you can quickly switch between CarPlay and regular bluetooth connection in the PCM, I kind of doubt that is possible with this dongle.

What would you need the BT connection for? I'll check to see if it's still available while using the dongle. The dongle utilizes wifi for connectivity.

I prefer to use the handsfree connectivity built into the PCM rather than taking and making calls from CarPlay, but once in a while I make custom routes on Google Maps and I need CarPlay to use the Google Maps app for these routes...
Using Google Maps allows me to create more interesting routes than just the fastest to the destination, but it also takes more preparation.
