Tried searching but couldn’t find anything to answer my question. My last two cars (M4 and S4) had very easy ways to do some light coding on the car. Things like soundaktor volume (in the S4), disabling chimes, changing one touch turn signals to a different count, etc.

Any option like this for the 718 platform?

Don’t think it’s coding for the ECU, but other onboard computers. Was very easy to do for previous cars. As an example, for my S4, bought a simple device that plugs into the OBD port. Connect via app/Bluetooth and you can start customizing dozens of settings, and unlock some features that are “hidden”. Super easy to revert back to stock as well.
I know with the last BMW M car I bought, my salesman did the coding for me right at the dealership. So there’s lots of it happening , but sounds like this isn’t possible on our cars.

There are things that can be done but it requires a shop with OE system tools (Piwis?)
For example when installing race seats, airbags etc need to be coded off.
There are many dedicated modules throughout the car that handle “systems” such as safety.
The problem for hands on DIY owners is that the programming tools to modify the code in these modules are not easily attainable (such as NCS Expert in the BMW world)

+1 on what @InTgr8r said. I looked into multiple options for how to access and mod configurations of the vehicle computers like on my other German cars, but found that Piwis was the only tool that would work. Really wish OBDeleven supported Porsche cars like they do for all the other VAG cars...

Durametric is the tool to reset service and other items.
Have you seen any update from Durametric that they now support the 982? Last time I checked 6 months ago, our cars were still not being supported by their tool.
From what I can tell, Piwis = VAG COM for Porsche.

The big thing for me on the service side of things is something to set the steering angle sensor. (I do my own alignments)
I wish I could get confirmation on this before buying something like Durametric that may or may not work.

I bought the iCarsoft and it does work for the 982.

I am considering this one as well.
Is there any way you can confirm that SAS (steering angle sensor) function is available?
If available, that would help me decide.

Also, did yours work right out of the box?
I heard that some were having software update issues

Thanks

It didn't work for either my BS or my X5 out of the box. I had to go to their website and run the update procedure and then it worked perfectly.

I will check the Steering Angle feature tomorrow.

When you check the SAS tomorrow, the site says something about reading PCM data, but it would be interesting to know if it just reads the data, or if it would allow doing anything with it, for example, getting it to recognize a GPS plugged into it. Thanks.

I am using an Autel MaxiSys MS906. In addition to DTC reading and clearing, it does all the service resets such as oil, maintenance, battery, steering angle, parking brake and such.
The programming and coding function seems to expose all the settings. I have disabled Auto Start-Stop, Upshift prompt, and Sound symposer.
It works with dozens of different cars so, in my case, that is a plus.

Did you can disable start/stop?
Do you have the PDK maintenance option to fill it?
