Is it normal for my car to “chirp” every once and a while while not using it? Every so often I hear the car “chirp” from the garage and I’m pretty sure it’s the electric parking brake adjusting by itself. FYI it’s a manual GTS. I like to think of it as the car saying hello to me reminding me it’s there and wanting to go for a ride.

Anyone else notice this?

Is the car locked or unlocked when it does this?

It does it whether the car is locked or unlocked. I do think that it mostly does it within the first few hours of parking and engaging the e-brake. It comes from the back of the car so would not be the wipers. Sometimes I'll notice it after I wash the car and am trying it (parked with engine off).

I'm not too concerned about it, but I was just putting it out there to see if anyone else noticed this.

Nothing like trial and error. Leave the P-brake off and see if the car still does what you describe. You'll know then if it's related to the brake or not.

I know this is an old thread, but my '18 CGTS is doing the same thing. Ive searched the net and threads on here and can't find any info.

Everytime we go into the garage or near the car, it makes the electronic parking brake sound. The key is inside the house about 30' and 3 walls away. Its either like there is some sort of sensor that triggers it or its like my doug begging to be taken for a walk.

Parking brake is set.

Does it locked and unlocked.

Anyone know what it is? Does the electronic e-brake reset itself?

Always has, and still does happen on mine also. At this point I just assumed it was the parking brake self tightening itself every so often.
