My Boxster is scheduled for completion this Friday 4/13 - Enter Emden on the 20th - Exits on May 4th.

Based on the PML website there is a ship departing for Davisville on the April 21, 25, May 2, and May 9th - Is there any chance it making an earlier departure? There isn't even a departure on May 4th.

Any insights would be helpful - the closer to arrival the harder it is

Thanks

Those dates are just estimates. My 718C exited production 2 weeks ago and was “scheduled” to leave Emden on April 13. There is no ship leaving for Davisville on the 13th but there is one leaving on the 7th, 11th, 18th, 21st, etc.

Almost here. Tick Tock.

This is my recent experience: My car exited the factory 02/27, entered Emden 03/01, and exited Emden 03/07. The expected interval 21 days.

Don’t become excited to quick....in april 2017, my Cayman 718S left Emden early, then after crossing the Atlantic quickly, the ship stayed anchored for close to a week in Halifax Canada. It was then unloaded, and stayed in the port yard for weeks. Then put on railcar to Montreal. All in all, 6 weeks between the ship anchored in Halifax, and delivered to Montreal dealership. The ship transit is always the shortest thing...

Ust be realistic, and rely on the dealer estimates, they know their business...

That gives me hope - since mine will follow the same route to Ohio!!! When did your GTS complete production?

My Cayman completed production last week and I have the VIN. It is scheduled to depart Emden on 20 April with entry into Port of Houston on 11 May. But these are still estimates, not official, verified dates.

My car was scheduled to complete production on 3/2 but actual vehicle completion date was 2/28. If you would like to add to the pain of the waiting game you can track the ship that carries your car across the Atlantic Ocean. My car was brought over on the “ATHENS HIGHWAY” cargo ship. I think a lot of Porsche’s and VW’s are delivered to the US on that particular vessel. You can go to marinetraffic.com and check it out. Good luck.

How long from Vehicle Completion to Exit from Emden?

Not really--at least until it's crossing the ocean. Marine Traffic is your friend for that trip. Then it's back to the dealer for information re: customs, local transport, and preparation.
Greg, do you remember what route your ship took to reach Australia?

My ship has gone from Bremerhaven, through the strait of Gibraltar, through the Suez Canal, then to dock at Singapore, then to dock at Shanghai (after waiting 8 days doing nothing outside of Shanghai), and now it has just left and is heading to South Korea for another stop. I have no idea when it is going to turn around and start heading for Australia!

My Porsche SA sent me an email yesterday saying that his latest info was still that the ship was due in Port Kembla on 13 April (whereas marinetraffic.com says it will dock in South Korea on that date). I'm honestly not sure if they gave me the name of the wrong ship to track sometimes... but i have already sent them one email querying whether they got the name of the ship right. I think it would be almost insulting to send them another...

Anyways, if your ship took a similar route to mine, then i could at least make some extrapolation of time frame to reaching australia.

My ship crossed the Atlantic, through the Panama Canal, stopped at Auckland, then three times on the East coast (one unscheduled) and then to Melbourne. The car was then road freighted to Adelaide.

Do check with the dealer and get the ship's code as well as confirm the name--AFAIK the dealers only get a 3-letter code rather than the full name.

Thanks for all the info Greg!

Update: The dealer got the name of the ship wrong. I have been tracking the wrong ship for 6 weeks :( What annoyed me greatly is that when I asked them to recheck it 4 weeks ago, they phoned me up and said everything was fine. So I sent a rather angry email this morning. Probably too angry. I should have calmed down a bit before pressing send :(

However the good news is that the shipped already docked in Port Kembla on the 6th of April. However it took them until this morning to even realise the car was here (another reason I was a bit annoyed). OTOH they are checking off their Porsche system, and sites like marinetraffic are far more up to date. So I can't really hold the dealer at fault for a delay in the Porsche system updating.

Hmmm, I'd say the frustration was justified.:)

When my car was off-loaded in Melbourne the dealer notified me the next day (Monday) and was able to tell me when they'd have it ready for me.

Oh well, at least it's in the country and on its way to you.:D

UPDATE: I just received word that my Cayman arrived at the Port of Emden on 10 April and could leave there as early as this coming Friday, 20 April, which would be right on schedule.

That's great news. I'm waiting to hear from my SA about the status of my car. I'm praying it's on that ship too as it exited production on March 23.
