Hello,
I tried to post this earlier but not sure what happened. About three weeks ago I was getting a banging noise from the right rear of the car. It almost sounded like pops from the sport mode without it being engaged. It would only happen after some driving or if I was driving aggressively (4k-5K RPM).

I went to the dealer to get it looked at and the SA got a tech lead to come and take a ride with me. The Tech lead immediately heard the sound and we drove back to the dealer. He put the car on the lift and started checking for loose items at the bottom of the car. He didn't find anything and we scheduled a follow-up a week later (earliest available appointment). Once they started working on it they immediately found that a bolt was missing from the engine mount and the other one wasn't torqued correctly. Once fixed the noise went away.

It is weird that Porsche would forget a bolt in the engine mount. I just wanted to share this so people know that this might also be an issue. I have about 12K miles on the car. Its a 2018 Cayman base with PSE.

Thanks

Hi Mohsin,

Your original post was auto-moderated and flagged as potential spam. Anyway ... questions:
- Did you buy your car new?
- Were the bolts replaced under warranty?
- Did your dealer give you any hassle about the repair?
- Did the dealer find any other issues related to the missing bolts?
- Do you know the build month - or, better yet, the build dates - of your car, as well as which plant produced it (Zuffenhausen or Osnabruck)?

Yes, that's weird ... but yes, it happens. Even at Porsche.

Thanks, and welcome to the forum!

Viffermike,
Thank you. Please see answers below:

- Did you buy your car new? <-- Yes, I ordered the car from a local dealer here in Atlanta.
- Were the bolts replaced under warranty? <-- Yes
- Did your dealer give you any hassle about the repair? <-- None at all. My dealer has exceeded my expectations every single time. I had an earlier issue with PCM not operating and they quickly figured that it was a broken ground connection. They also fixed it under warranty.
- Did the dealer find any other issues related to the missing bolts? <-- They told me that they checked out everything and there didn't seem any damage but I had been driving the car for 12K with a bolt missing so i'm sure there has got to be some other damage that was over looked.
- Do you know the build month - or, better yet, the build dates - of your car, as well as which plant produced it (Zuffenhausen or Osnabruck)? <-- I need to get back to you on this. It was delivered in December of 2017 so i'm guessing a October build.

Thanks

Mohsin
