This question may be premature since the oldest 718 is barely 3 years old, but wondering if anyone has noticed fading on any of the exterior plastic parts? If so, wondering what you have done to bring back the luster. Hate Armor all products as they leave a residue and don't last long. Just planning for the long haul!

Geyon Q2 trim coating, ceramic coating for plastics, very durable (at least six months on my car). Less durable but restores the plastic nicely: Koch chemie plast star. Both leave no residue . Those are the two products I use on all of my cars.

I have tried several products over the years and have found Adam's VRT Vinyl, Rubber, Tire & Trim Dressing to work well on all the black plastic trim on our XC70 Volvos as well as the Cayman.

fading plastic? Just keep your car in the garage and problem solved!

In all seriousness, fading is something I think about each time I was my car for the side vents and under the wing. I have the painted sport design so the front plastic isn't a concern for me, but faded side vents will look poor. And I don't care what sort of UV inhibitors Porsche may have in the plastic, it's certainly going to fade over time if not addressed so I'll keep a keen eye on this thread and pick something to start using.

I replaced the plastic triangles by the side view mirrors with the gloss black painted ones from off the 911. Pretty sure I ordered them from Suncoast. (roll down your window, remove them from the inside ;-)
As for my rear diffuser, I had it "painted" with NGENCO spray-on clear bra, gave it a nice glossy black look. As for the intake vents, I ordered Carbon Fiber covers for them...AND I am lucky enough to have underground parking at the office, so she never gets UV rays unless I'm out driving her.

I haven't noticed any fading on mine. I've used Gtechniq C4 Permanent Trim Restorer on other cars and it's superb. It really does restore plastics back to new and lasts a long time.
Second vote for G-Techniq C4, this is what the chaps use here in Blighty on early model 911 scuttle panels. I have used it on a ten year old GM car belonging to my niece and it is classes as a semi permanant fix. Geyon do a similar product. To stop fading in the first place, after each mainatinance wash, coat any black plastic parts with 303. regular use of 303 does work like magic. I use it on all of my cars. https://www.amazon.co.uk/30308-Aero...uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl

I've always trusted Mother's Back-To-Black on plastic and rubber exterior trim. Not only will it restore the trim without making it look oily, but it tends to repel wax that crosses over from the paintwork. It's obviously some sort of milky emulsion but is not greasy. And it's pretty much available at most auto parts stores. On rubber (like the windshield trim on an Audi) I reapply it with every car wash. On hard plastic trim (like the side mirror buttresses on the Boxster) I'm hoping it will last a few washes (only 500 miles in, so we'll see how it goes, but I can say the product has always worked well on black plastic on the other family cars).

Had same problem, so I ceramic coated the black trim, restored colour and has stayed that way for over a year so far, water sheets off it, dirt doesn’t stick, a hit with the high pressure and it’s back to factory finish. I used the remainder of a bottle of cquartz uk 3.0. But if didn’t want to spend that money maybe try some of those AliExpress ones for $10, there are reviews on them, I’m sure you will a year out of them, cheap protection.

Best way to bring back faded plastics is either replace or ceramic coat or do both. The spay on products really don’t last very long, in the UK anyway.
Spray on products don't last long on this side of the pond either...best to paint and/or ceramic coat.

Just adding to the product recommendations... 303 Aerospace Protectant.

I've used this on all of my cars exterior black trim for years. Still looks deep black and no chalky/fading appearance, this includes my wife's almost 7-year old SUV.
