New owner of a 2018 base Cayman, loaded with a few fun options like PASM, PTV, and Sport/Chrono. However, I can't get Launch Control to work. I've read descriptions of it, watched videos of it, and just can't get it to work. Not sure if it's me or the car (probably me), but thought I'd ask here.

Steps/Results:
  1. Set to Sport+ mode
  2. Press brake petal. I've tried both lightly (enough to hold the car stopped), and HARD, but that activates the "hold" mode.
  3. Press accelerator down to the floor.
  4. Revs increase to 6500 or so, then drop down to 3500 or so.
  5. Right-side panel in center displays "Launch Control Activated"
  6. Release brake while keeping accelerator fully down
  7. Cayman does NOT move an inch, and revs drop down to 1000 or so (Launch Control display is now off too)

Note that my accelerator is still pressed to the floor! But the revs drop right down like I'm not even touching it.

Any suggestion about what could be wrong with these steps would be greatly appreciated!

Press brake petal. I've tried both lightly (enough to hold the car stopped), and HARD, but that activates the "hold" mode.

THIS STEP MUST BE A SINGLE ACTION IN PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR, a quick hard jab to the floor and hold it.
Now quickly jab the throttle to the floor and press firmly.... Keep pressing firmly on the throttle never lifting your right foot, now release the brake and hang on!
The entire process shouldn't take more than 2-4 seconds.

Here's how fast it all happens.

I did the “Launch Control” the other day, of course in a quiet straight back road, and when I let them brake off it made quiet a “banging” noise, certainly immense thrust forward but also felt it wasn’t a great thing to put the PDK thru, never used a launch control before on this or other cars, is that normal?

Now that doesn’t sound right. PDK has been proven to do 100+ launches in a row without issue.

If you've never used launch control before, then it can seem quite jarring. You're dumping the clutch from high revs so it's not going to be subtle/smooth. I can see how it might feel like you're breaking something.

I'm apprehensive regarding Launch Control, as my BS lacks PTV/limited slip.

Would like to hear from those who have launched without limited slip, specifically how the car reacted to 350 ponies with all that torque and no stability control. Did the rear end behave eratically at launch? Was stability an issue during gear change(s)? Was managing stability difficult in any way?

No PTV here and it launches pretty hard, straight and stable. This is on a tuned car putting down well over 350hp.

My biggest hurdle is tire spin... stupid Pirelli's, can't wait for them to wear out. I know I've done a 3.6 0-60 but can't find the run in my draggy times since getting a new phone. I still have a video that has a 3.73 and that was with signifiant wheel spin.
