I stumbled on this guy running a 718 Boxster S on the Ring.... almost couldn't watch it, honestly made me nervous!

Amazing driver with giant set of platinum 馃馃

Deffinitely!

The big 馃馃 far exceeded his technique.
I'm amazed that he survived to post the vid.
accurate assessment!

I thought it was funny how he was dressed for what looked like Sunday services. Throws on a brain bucket and off to the races he goes.

@faizaan2000 Great video! What camera and app were you using and where/how is the camera placed?

Not Porsche related, but I remember seeing this video a decade ago and being amazed at how the driver was just throwing around this overpowered Subaru on track. At the time I was helping customers shoot for 400-600 whp Subaru builds and Roger Clark Motorsports comes out of nowhere with an 850 whp rocket that somehow stays in one piece.

And here's just some straight up ear porn:

That subie looked like he was driving on ice the way he was sliding around the corners!

I鈥檒l never be fast like that on a track because of too much finical risk with a crashing and potential injury.

well.... that and I lack the 馃馃.

...
Lest we forget, the Subaru is an AWD, and a very good one at that! It can make you a hero, while you are a klutz... I drove a lowly Forester 2.0 lt NA4 for 4 years and I loved the car and its performance... Not a barn burner, but the grip and handling and lack of lean on the turns was amazing for a SUV (actually a crossover).

My normal setup is the following:

1. Track Addict app on phone, phone mounted to windshield with RAM mounts suction cup and X grip
2. Dual Electronics XGPS 160
3. ScanTool 426101 OBDLink MX Bluetooth
4. 1 GoPro Hero 6 Black mounted on luggage bar for interior video with RAM mount clamp
5. 1 GoPro mounted on tow hook with Rennline
6. RaceRender to put all the data and video together.

However, when I'm feeling too lazy to set all that up I just run a single GoPro Hero 6 black on the windscreen with a suction cup and it has built in GPS and the GoPro software will add the overlays you see in this video.

Regarding Sebastian Vittel, he takes on the ring in a very serious way.
Learning to drive the track both in the wet and dry (totaly different lines)
He amlost lives on the track during the summer ;)
His 718 GTS has a Manthey racing suspension

And then there is the fact that he even fits in a Porsche, he is +2 meter long!

He's a four time Formula One World Champion. I'd hope he takes his driving seriously ;) I think driving the Ring in that Cayman is a Sunday drive for him.

Some video captured with my dashcam from the first trackday with my 718GTS, the objective was getting to know the car, not get laptimes. Stock brake pads and Pirelli tires,Please ignore the following:
me talking to myself and making all sorts of noises.
TPMS making noises when tires were not up to temp (were set to 2.0bar front and 1.9bar in the back before start)

It's uneditted so best to skip the first minutes and the refuelling part in the second video.

Mind comforting video of that day (clearly I wasn't doing so bad) :

Some nice cars in the pitlane:

Enjoy
or sorry if I have wasted 'one hour plus' of your life watching these video's
