I noticed something today. There's a small felt pad on the thing that the buckle plugs in to on the side facing the console. On the passenger side almost all the buckle is covered, and on the driver's side all I have left is a pad that's come unglued and is leaving gunk all over the place. Can someone tell me what's supposed to be on the driver's side?

I'm reasonably certain these are installed either at the port or at the dealer to address a design flaw with the belt locks rubbing against the center console when someone with, say, more than a 35-inch waist or so sits in the car. I say this for three reasons:

- I have two different types on mine -- and, like @JakiChan, the one with the larger area of coverage is on the passenger side, which makes little sense since it's used far less frequently.
- The installation is not precise; they basically look slapped on.
- Mine have not peeled off like those on the car that @autobahn has, even though I live in the same general area he does. That, in addition to reason #2 above, leads me to believe that different pads are used by different installers in different places.

@JakiChan and others with 'official' Porsche connections: It might be worth inquiring about where these are installed. It's obvious to me why; the question is when, and by whom.

My seat belt it making all types of noises, it creaks and squeaks depending on temperature and location of the seat. I did not realize how cheap the seatbelts were until they started making noise. So far it is the only issue I have had on my 2018 Cayman GTS and it is not a big deal but common Porsche get some better quality seatbelts. Seatbelt should not be something you should ever have to notice and if they did not make noises I probably never would have but they feel like cheap plastic toys.

So...just put a new piece of Velcro on the driver's side buckle. Remove the old piece. Problem solved.
