Picked up new 718S Cayman from the Experience in LA last September. Good buddy Tony an instructor there and the location afforded a drive up the coast to Alameda for initial break in. Picked up Hiway 33 in Ojai, splendid road, and spent night in Santa Barbara. Up thru Big Sur and Carmel and home. Incredible car. Thought the Dinaned '07 335 I have was well sorted, but as P car buddies have been pounding me about...difference between sportscar and sporty car.
Optioned all the go fast bits and 3 Sonoma track days later.....revelation....steering light and communicative, LSD gets you over off camber turns with power to the ground and although brake pedal throw is initially surprisingly long, binders were there all day long and strong. Sport plus lets tail break away a bit without triggering nannies....at least as far as I could tell. Lopped 5 seconds off my best time in the 335 with stratospheric joy factor. Will see how brakes hold up at Laguna next week.
Sorry about long thread but just overly enthusiastic!!

Welcome and thanks for the review and comments. Always great to hear what these cars are like at the limit.
One of my local buddies ran Laguna last year and said it was a hoot. But since it's a 6000 mile tow from this side, I'm not likely to get there any time soon. ;)

Welcome from another Bay Area S. There are around a dozen of us (identified) on the forum. One of these days we will get it together for a meetup!
Thanks, ZuffenHouse, look forward to making that happen. Let me know if you track either Laguna or Sonoma and I'll look for you.
