Hi all -

Just picked up a 718 Cayman 2.0, with very few "luxury" options, but many great sporty features including 6-speed Manual, PTV/mechanical locking diff, PASM, and Sport Chrono.

This car replaces a Fiat 124 Spider Abarth (fiata) as my daily, and canyon carver, and we'll see how it fares against a long line of dedicated race, track, and autocross cars I have built up over the last 20 years.

Initial impressions after just a few hundred miles are very positive! I have had the good fortune to spend time behind the wheel of a 930 turbo, as well as a 996 turbo, and a few old air cooled 911s of various vintages. This 718 is certainly more modern, but the feel is remarkably similar to all those earlier cars - especially in the steering and braking.

I'm already learning some great things from this community - hoping to contribute back as I get more miles/experience with the car!

A few snaps from cars gone by...just what I had on my phone.

S50 swapped E30, track prepped but still streetable.

The day I picked up a manual M235i a few years back - fun and fast, but low on road feedback.

The car that just left to make room for the new 718 (Abarth 124 Spider) the day I drove it home across ~500 miles of near-perfect California backroads.

Another E30 - bought for my wife - I've had 5 (318is, 325 sedan, m3, 325i sedan, 325i Cabrio), as well as 3 e36s (97 M3, 96 328i, 95 M3) one e39, one e28, a Z3 M coupe, and a 1969 1600-2.

Pics of the new 718 tomorrow!

Nice!! That's great pair!

I really loved driving the 124, but realized that I'm really just not a convertible guy. But the handling of the Spider was incredible. I've never had any vehicle that was as responsive to steering with the throttle as that car was.

Enjoy both cars!
