Just crossed 10k fun filled miles and now I’m need of a service. Car is saying it needs an oil change in 200 miles.

Called me dealer and wanted $625 for oil change and change of all fluids and top off. Seems rather excessive but it is a Porsche.

Is this the average amount? Does anyone goto an Indy shop instead?

As stated before, there are multiple threads in the Service And Maintenance subforum about this very question. Please look there.

This thread has been moved to that forum.

Everyone: Please look for an answer to a question elsewhere in 718Forum before starting a thread. If this keeps up, I may start merging/deleting threads on similar topics. Thank you!

I paid $224 for a Porsche dealer 10K Service. The service included oil/filter change and a Multi-Point inspection but no other fluids were changed.

You could get the oil change and do the "checks" yourself. What fluids will they top off after they change the oil...coolant, windshield fluid, and brake fluid? Brake fluid and coolant should be fine at 10k miles, especially if you get the brakes bled every 2 years.

I called and asked my dealer for the price of an oil change...he said just the oil change. I said yes...he said $199 sounding surprised I would just want an oil change. Many of us might think we need all the checks in each service internal. Read the owner's manual and look at what they "check" vs. the actual "work/parts" provided. You may or may not have a different view of the process and only ask for the actual "work/parts" such as oil change, filter changes, spark plugs, etc.

You could check a German indy shop. I bet it's close to 50% of the dealer price. I had my oil change at an indy shop for around $140. But they overfilled it by over a quart!

Hi Sonny,

Apparently I am not allowed to send PMs yet, so I am replying here. I am coming up on 10k and live in Arizona as well, I was curious which dealer you went to? I purchased my Porsche off the lot from a dealer in San Antonio and had it shipped to my home, so I have yet to interact with any of the dealers in AZ. Thanks for any info!

Gutwrencher,

The $224 10K Service was at Porsche Chandler and included a 10% discount for Porsche Club members. I have paid slightly less at Porsche North Scottsdale, but that was for an oil filter/change on my 2012 Boxster which is a less difficult job.

After 5700 mi and 2 months ownership of new Cayman S, I was early for the first scheduled service as an end to the 'break in' process, too early to be covered by the pre-paid maintenance plan. At Porsche Bellevue, change oil 8qts of Mobil1 0W40, oil filter, 0-ring, alum seal ring, top off the windshield washer fluid, set tire press to 33psi, perform standard multi-point inspection. 10% off for PCA membership $335.39 total.

Service Advisor suggested that the next svc be back on the original schedule of 10k miles total or 1yr from purchase whichever comes first. Now, after 9 months ownership, the Cayman is at 11800 and I have a (pre-paid) service appointment for early June. It had passed the 10,000 mark while on vacation in Flagstaff Arizona, its second trip into that state...

£495 fixed price first service in UK, which is really just an oil change and check-over. Then I think another £75 for brake fluid. Don't know why in UK first service is at 20,000 miles or two years, no service at year one unless done 20,000.

Just booked my first service 20k at Porsche Centre Silverstone. Its a '17 718 (I cover a fair bit of road, 16k-18k p/a)

£425 for the service and £95 for the brake fluid change. Got a massive £30 discount for booking together ~ £490 in total, for what is effectively an oil change, brake fluid change, pollen filter change and quick check over. Craaaaaayz!

Manual calls for 5.7 liters. Careful my last oil change it was overfilled by over a liter. If you have 8 qts/ltrs, better take some out.

They should put in what they take out - no? Oil change should yield at least 7 liters when done right I was told. My dealer warmed the car up accordingly and was able to extract 7.9 liters. So they put in 7.9 liters afterwards.

Not sure about the 7.9 liters. Look at your owner's manual on page 315 under capacity section: it clearly states that both the 2.0 and 2.5 take approx. 5.7 liters with oil and filter change.

Where I had it done (indy shop), they had 7 liters on the receipt and I was getting the too full message a few times. Then soon after, I was at the Porsche dealer for warranty work their software showed overfilled by 1.7 liters. So that's why I pulled about about 1.5 liters yesterday. It now reads full with the green mark at the top.

Interesting it really says 5.7 liters in the manual. Might be within specs but that sounds low to me. Maybe that’s with a cold engine? The system holds a little over 8 liters according to my dealer. 25% old oil left? Not sure I’d be too happy with that.

I watched the whole 2.5 hour procedure and can assure you that it was 7.9 liters needed for my oil change. They said the manufacturer specs call for a certain minimum oil temperature when doing the change to get as much oil as possible out. They are happy with around 7 liters on the 718s.

I’ll stick with what the Porsche owners manual states. 8 liters is about right for a 981. My 3.6 996 took 10 liters. I forget what my 987 took, but probably close to 8. Next time you have your oil changed, show your dealership page 315 of your owners manual. It would be interesting to see what they say about what Porsche recommends.

Thankfully that's gonna be a while. I'll trade my 718 for another 718 around October. So next scheduled oil change will be somewhere around October 2019.

I took my 718BS in for its first service and the bill came to$235 with tax. It took 2 hours and I waited for the job to be done, plus I was treated to a double latte and a pastry! Overall I was very satisfied with the overall cost and efficiency! :D. http://www.718forum.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=14985&stc=1&d=1526829744. http://www.718forum.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=14993&stc=1&d=1526829744
Mine was $300ish out the door. Inclusive pastry, tea and cookies.
But what we really wanna know is how much oil did they use? ;)
