I'm comparing the straight pipe systems from FVD Brombacher, AWE and Soul for my 17' 718 S (pdk)

Anyone have any direct experience with the above?

Concerned about drone & total 'loudness' * ok "straight pipe" and "concern" ... lol. But, all of the 'in cabin' videos from Soul and AWE seem like it's barely noticeable under normal driving. (? really ? ) "Mufflers" can resonate - and I don't want that - and the PSE exhaust routing is a loop pulsing into itself with 2, 90 degree turns not to mention stock downpipe/cat. So if done right, the straight pipe solution could be acceptably "quiet" under low-medium throttle. )

Anyway - lot's of questions ... Anyone? Experience?

Happy to help! You will notice some in-cabin presence as you have removed the drone fighting components in the exhaust. At no point during driving did I feel I couldn't live with it, in fact it was nice to actually hear the exhaust. Doing just an aftermarket downpipe will get you more external volume and turbo sound but you barely get an increase in in-cabin noise from them, even catless. Once you add aftermarket downpipes to a straight exhaust you will definitely notice the resonance in the cabin and this may bother some, especially catless. At that point it is indeed a "track exhaust".

The benefits of our system is that we use a bracket that is bespoke for PDK and it is mounted to the transmission to reduce vibrations and transmitted sound. The x-pipe smooths exhaust pulses and the nature of the cast x increases longevity.

That said, I invite you to try out our system. If it's not what you're looking for we will take it back. Another alternative is a catted downpipe which will get you more power, turbo sound, and no-drone.

Thanks Mike / apreciate the reply

btw- I was trying to avoid replacing the downpipe ( which typically requires ICU porting/remapping) I have a couple of years of warranty left & cat back seems to be ok with my dealer service dept. in terms of honouring that warranty - but swapping a downpipe and porting the ICU will void it. )

You're most welcome! If you go with an HJS HD 200 cell catted downpipe you will not need an ECU tune and you will not get a check engine light. An ECU tune will certainly cause some friction with the dealer but you may get a pass on the downpipe as several of our customers have. As always, we recommend discussing any mods with your dealer to prevent any surprises.

Let me know if you have more questions!
