I have a 2017 Cayman S. I washed my car yesterday. When drying it I opened the gas access lid and dried out the recessed "compartment". When done the lid wouldn't stay closed. I must have knocked, pressed, moved something that affects the functioning of the lid mechanism. Can't figure out what's going on. Anyone here had this problem? More importantly anyone know how to fix it?

Does the rubber-covered plunger (left side) move freely when you press on it with your finger? Are there any tears in the rubber that might have allowed water in? Just some thoughts. That's all I got. Good luck.

It moves but the first press has some resistance until a bit firmer push and a click causes it to release; then it works smoothly on immediate additional pushes.

Just for grins, do the emergency filler door release (I know the problem is getting it to lock down), and maybe that will cause it to return to normal function.

I tried that yesterday. It didn't help. It also didn't feel like I thought it would (had never tried it before though; so not sure what a normal feel is). Not any resistance; kind of a sloppy/loose feeling to it; may be affected by the same problem as the lid (?).

Can you either hear or feel the relay/solenoid actuating when the car is locked/unlocked? If not then maybe a fuse blew ...what with all the over-active sloshing about dowsed the electrics:) No idea which fuse it might be though, sorry.

All things sound normal when the car is locked/unlocked.
New info: I went to my Porsche dealer and the service manager (great guy) had a Porsche tech look at it. They say the black, rubber covered, spring loaded "pin/stem" pointing up toward you on the left side of the compartment was broken/malfunctioning. They are ordering the part. I'll give an update once the part is installed to see if that fixes the problem. Thanks for everyone's help/suggestions.

I am surprised the dealership is open and allowed you to walk in. Everything here is shut - and as it occurs to me, for good reasons.

Just the service department was open and with a limited crew. Everyone maintained a 6 foot distance. Okay, enough of that. Don't want to go of on a tangent with this thread and down a rabbit hole.

Update: I reported earlier my local Porsche dealer said the mechanism that controls the opening/closing of the lid had broken. The part needed arrived and was installed today. That solved the problem - working normally now.

Thanks everyone for your earlier suggestions for fixing the problem.
