There haven't been any color combinations at nearby dealers to compare/contrast whether GT silver with agate grey interior comes close to working well with each other? Curious if there is too much "brown" in the grey to reasonably go with GT silver. I know its subjective, but any input would be useful.

As you say, it's subjective. From my subjective perspective, I don't think it would look good. I think it would be too similar to a grey/silver, but with the brownish tones of Agate. If you wanted something "different" than black, I think the full espresso could look good. It's a purposeful contrast, and distinctly different than any sort of grey. Of course, it's also a pricey option.

Your dealer probably has samples of the paint color and leather colors that you could at least hold next to each other

Espresso is Awesome and the naturel leather smells Woderful :)
I had it in my BS

Not the best pic, its a bit darker irl

When i got my CS they said it had agate grey interior but when i saw the pics i was confused.
Porsche had put the wrong interior in the car :D

In Sweden we have something called Sadle Tan, thats the color i have, its not at redish as Espresso and a bit lighter.
One more bad pic, yhis looks gray but it is brown....

Head over to Porsche.com, choose EU and Great britain site and change interior for a better look.
It could also be that Agate gray is a different color in the US, Saddle Tan in US was more Cream a couple of years ago.

I'm personally not a fan of the Agate Grey interior. I've seen it and it's kind of bland (IMO). I prefer an interior that has more of a contrast than Agate Grey would have with GT Silver. I don't care for all Black or all Red interiors either, but when I saw the Black/Bordeaux all leather option at the dealer I knew right away I had to have it. It goes great with GT Silver. If you haven't seen it you should check it out.

Why not more Agate Grey / Bordeaux inventory?

I know exactly what you mean; mine had to be shipped from over 800 miles away, yet when you navigate to the Porsche site and start configuring your 718 Boxster, that's the default color combination they present to you!

I'd steer clear of agate "grey" (it's actually brown) with the GT silver. Brown and silver are not a good combination. Stick to black, Bordeaux red or black/Bordeaux red. They all look good. I got the black/red combination which works well.

Agate grey exterior colour is also very disappointing IMO. I saw it in the catalogues and it looks great. It looked great in the showroom too under artificial light. Unfortunately the minute you get it in the sunlight it looks brown - which is not good. Porsche do a nice metallic dark grey (IIRC volcano grey) but it's not available on the 718 (except at vast expense).

I disagree completely. Silver and brown is a good combination. I wouldn't dare to take the full red leather because of possible reflections in the windscreen.

GT Silver is a more brown-ish silver that goes well with agate grey or brown leather.Just like rhodium goes very well with graphite blue because that silver is more to the blue-spectrum.

I've got an odd notion that I've never heard echoed before. It is: brown (leather) interiors go with anything because leather is "naturally" brown.

So if Agate Grey interiors are actually brown, I'd say it would look nice with GT Silver.

Thanks all...now it's clear as mud! But seriously, thanks for your input. I'll just need to make the couple hour drive to see it myself I suppose provided I can find one. Here's another thought. There are a couple of custom seat cover fabricators online, although it might be tough to find one that includes the 718. Is it sacrilegious to consider seat covers if I can find one that does the Cayman? I really don't like leather (I live in a hot and humid environment) or black fabric at all so that limits options on the build unless I can cover it.

(pictures shamelessly taken from the internet)

The above are two separate pictures of two separate cars. However, if you look, you might be able to see if the combination works.

Perhaps you should consider Black/Dark Silver Sport-Tex seats. I've seen them and they are very nice.

GT silver is certainly a strange colour that varies considerably depending on the light. It goes from a dull mid-grey in overcast weather to bright silver in sunlight. But I've never seen any brown in it. The rhodium silver certainly has a blue tinge though and agate grey has a very definite brown tinge. Whether silver and brown work together is a matter of taste, but I'd recommend that anyone thinking of this combination has a good look at it in real life - photographs are no good because the colours are never accurate enough.

I remember Audi had a similar colour to agate grey, which they called oolong grey (now discontinued). In this case oolong (which is a type of tea) at least gives a clue that it's brown, but agate gives no clue at all because the stones are of very variable colours.
