I searched and found no discussion of this option. Porsche's builder website only says it's 365mm. So, what do you get by selecting this option? I'm guessing a slightly smaller diameter wheel? Any other difference? Should I do it or pass?

Thanks again guys, you're really helping me figure out how to option my build.

No, the GT wheel is smaller in diameter. I have the regular sport wheel so I cannot attest to the feel of the GT wheel but I really like the way the "standard" one feels.

I swapped my base steering wheel for this and while the size difference seems small, has a very noticeable affect on making the steering feel faster and more direct. Mine also came with heat. So instead of a chrome outline, it becomes black, is slightly smaller and also has heat. It looks great but I would t have cared if the outline remained chrome.

If you are ordering a new car, go for it, it is cheap then, to add it after can be done but will cost approximately $2k...

Is it much different, I would say it is mostly the look. I am definitely getting it on my next car!

Yes, I totally agree. It cost about $2k with labor and coding. I was able to sell my original steering wheel for $1200 on eBay to offset the cost. I found our car CPO and unfortunately the steering wheel was the only thing really missing I wanted.

If it was a cm smaller I'd more readily jump on it but 5mm, I'd be hard pressed to feel that in back to back comparisons, let alone having it or not. Adding radio volume control to the wheel would be nice as I've gotten used to that in my Mazda 3 but I could live without it and I'm pretty sure it's an unrelated option. Next time I'm at the dealer I'll ask if they have both size wheels to try.

You will feel the difference. The multi-function controls are great.

I think it's more about the look and available multi-function controls than diameter.

In addition to whatever changes in feel the smaller diameter wheel imparts, it also gives you that much more clearance for your legs and your hands when you're turning. I've got the GT multi function and like it for looks, the multi function, and the clearance.

I actually measured the GT steering wheel a while back in my GTS and if I recall correctly it was actually a little smaller than the stated 360mm, maybe 356mm.

IMO the GT steering wheel is one of the best parts. You can feel like you are in a 918 and it is a perfect size. Steering wheels have come such a long way even in the last iteration of 98x platform and in 991.2.

Our BMW F31 also has a nice m-sports steering wheel but I think it is a little bigger at 365mm but still very nice.

The sizes are supposed to be 375mm for the standard and 360mm for the GT - so 15mm difference. As I understand it, upgrading from no controls/heat to controls/heat is ~$600+ more than if you already have controls/heat on your standard wheel.
