Probably been done to death but I can't find any decent conversations that let me decide one way or the other....

What are your thoughts on the GT steering wheel over the normal wheel? The dealer has confirmed it has multi function and is heated so that's good. I notice it's standard on the 911 GTSs and Turbo so I'm sure it's not terrible.

Please let me know your experience/thoughts.

Ta.

Oh dear.:)

The GT wheel is slightly smaller than the normal wheel and has different trim.

The heating and multi-function are available on both.

The GT wheel felt better to me, just more comfortable--although the shape is close to identical if not actually identical to the normal.

Try them both out and see if it's worth the money to you.

Depending on several things including your build, the smaller diameter of the GT wheel may provide more clearance for your hands during fast driving on tight curvy roads. That's important in my case.

I have the GT multi-function heated wheel and I love it! It is by far the best wheel I have ever had in a car. As stated above it is slightly smaller than the standard wheel, and it suits the car better IMO. The standard wheel feels too big to me.

I also like the looks of the GT wheel over the standard wheel.

I had the standard wheel on my car, then upgraded to the GT wheel with the MF + Heat. I like the GT wheel better in every way. The black trim looks great, especially if your interior is black. The size seems perfect and of course having the MF is better than not having it. The only thing that doesn't work that well is the heat. It's not super warm and it seems to be on a timer (or I'm somehow hitting the button randomly).

Still tweaking your configuration I see... Correct, both the standard and GT wheel come with MF and heating as standard in NZ. The differences between the two are size and styling/colour. Both come down to personal preference although, depending on how you position it, there is a chance that the GT wheel may obscure part of the dials - although this will be less of an issue in a 718 than a 911.

The GT wheel is black with silver accents (and some fake bolts, which make it look a little busier design wise), while the standard is the reverse. I think both look and feel great and for me it will come down to which I think will suit my interior more, although i do plan to check dial visibility again. You've seen my preferred configuration, which has this specified and to be honest the only parts I haven't completely made up my mind on is the GT wheel and the white dials.

It's the one option I gave up from my configuration order (to buy an available dealer inventory car) that I really wish for. Would have upgraded with the Suncoast factory GT wheel but for some reason they don't offer it without Multi-Function (forcing you to go with a very expensive additional upgrade unrelated to pure steering wheel aesthetics -- and I really prefer simple steering wheel without MF). Oh well, maybe used non-MF GT wheels will show up later in the after-market).

I have the multifunction GT wheel, but I think it comes down to personal preference. Not a must have. Whichever way you go, I feel the multifunction upgrade IS a must have, at least on a PDK car. That's because the there's very little room to fit your hand behind the shifter to operate the audio system controls.

Thank you all, appreciated. I contacted the dealer and asked him to add the GT wheel. I also added PASM while I was at it :) Pretty sure I am done now. I found the 3d configurator....very cool.

Is it Feb yet?!
