No, these are genuine Porsche parts. I purchase from Sun Coast Porsche, I had body shop fill in logo and paint and install them for me. You remove the stock insert and install the GT4 insert, they clip in. Once you have the insert installed then the GT4 scoops clip into these.

Thanks for that, the only reason I’ve avoided them was because I didn’t want to mess with tape. Just another thing to get now!

There is obviously a demand for these scoops.
They do improve the look of the vehicle and probably assist cooling too.
You would think Porsche would produce them for all the other Cayman Models, not just the GT4.
Think they would be a popular option or add on if they came already painted.

Curious if you saw the actual install? I installed them onto my 2018 Boxster GTS, and was thinking of doing the same on my incoming 718.

The reason I am asking is unless things have changed since they made these for the 981 the used both screws and double sided tape to do the installation... The insert did change and provided alignment pins and 2 of the 6 screw locations.

When ordering mine I did see the “ needs tape “ note. I was pleasantly surprised when the baskets were included. It made the price a real bargain in my mind. The part numbers are GT4 all the way. No tape.

So you have received yours? Do they have screw holes like I show in the pictures? Can you share a picture of the back side mounting surface of the scoop?

FWIW, when I ordered mine from the local dealer each part including 3M tape was a separate line item.

Curious to see more installation procedures as well. Everything I have seen indicates that double sided tape is required. This is the first i am hearing otherwise.

Well on the 981, the outer grate that I pictured above did snap into place but it was only designed to hold itself in, not the external scoop, six screws and double sided tape held the painted scoop on... without screws or tape it simply fell off the car! 😉

Will take pictures mid week when I return from a trip and do the install. This is a direct replacement as if you had a damaged GT4. That means that the grill basket has a single crossbar vs the 2 bar that we all have now. ( maybe that is where the confusion lies ). The scoop clips into the basket the same way the basket snaps into the panel. This creates a one piece structure -step one. No tools , no clips - just install the grill basket in reverse order of the original -step two.
