Hello all

just wanted to check if anyone had ordered the new GTS and what thoughts were versus the base?

I bought an entry level Boxster in Dec as an introduction to the brand, and was thinking of changing next year to the GTS or a base model 911 Carrera. I live in London, UK so do like the smaller size of the Boxster and the drop top option.

Any thoughts versus the base appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi,
I am currently daily driving a 718 cayman base PDK with no performance options, and debating the same question myself.
I guess it all comes down to what you want to use the car for.
My previous car was a 6NA manual (Nismo 370Z), and the Main difference is, and will be with the new GTS, driving style and use.
With the F4T fun begin almost immediately, whereas with the F6NA you'll have to rev it to enjoy it as intended.
Daily driving it or tracking it or both, and if so how many track days a year?
For Daily driving/ back roads the base is perfect, it is very responsive and nimble as you know, and if you care less about the sound it's a pleasure.
However, on track i think the 2.0T doesn't do this chassis justice, the car just begs for more power.
I think that the mid-engine/steering/drivability is just too good for this engine. (speaking just 2 days after a track day)
Me? i am in the same boat... debating the same questions... do i sacrifice daily drivability for track performance or the other way around.
is it worth the extra cash and subsequent expenses? and we didn't even talked about PDK\Manual.... :)
I guess we both need to drive the new GTS on the street to make an informed decision.
On track it will be a blast.
Cheers.

I placed an order demand for a Cayman GTS 4.0 at the beginning of July (2020). My dealer has told me that I am third on "the list." I am eagerly awaiting an allocation. I will be trading my 2019 Cayman S. I wanted a flat six in the first place, but I have really enjoyed the turbo four.

lol. I placed my GTS 4.0 order July 1st, too. Also am third in line! Are you me? Sounds like it won’t be until end of year for us to get ours based on the other recent thread comments.

My code from dealer is v 200. Supposedly allocation confirmed and delivery date determined as per research.

Graustark, I agree. My dealer emailed me yesterday and said that he recently received two allocations. I am next in line (V70), but It looks like it will be fourth quarter 2020 at the earliest.

We just need to be patient. It will be wonderful when it arrives.

I ordered mine yesterday after an unnecessarily long decision making process which even had my wife demanding that I 'just buy one already.' I was REALLY torn on the 2.5 vs 4.0 thing. I believe I drove every variation (to include the base) out there during the process and would have been very happy with ANY of them. I would have likely gone with a used GTS if I could have found one close to my build. I ended up going with the 4.0 as a dd and for track use and with the PDK, I thought the performance was better than the '19 GTS I drove right before it ... and the sound (I may be a homer but I can't help it). Bottom line though is that I would have never looked back if I had gotten any of them ... they are all awesome. I can not wait for June to roll around.

How long did it take in the end to get from V70 to V200 to V250 to delivery?
