I searched and didn’t see any threads on it, so I checked for myself.

I compared a 718 CaymanS and a 718 CGTS at the Porsche center in Las Vegas, and the S had no center radiator, but the GTS did.

The S has a black block-off plate, the GTS has a black center rad. At first I thought maybe it was an AC condenser on GTS, but seeing as the S didn’t have it I can only assume the GTS has three rads. A nice bonus for those of us considering track days!

Now I realize this might change in other areas of the world. I suppose in the Middle East maybe all 718s have three rads, IDK.

I am from Canada, as soon as I see one in Canada I will check it as well.

An 718 S with sport design package will also have the third radiator, at least i have it :)
When i asked about the third rad in here some one posted a link where to buy there third rad, so now everybody can have one.
In the Tech manual i says that the third rad is for really warm countries........

*edit*
It was trusted o gave us the link :)

My base Boxster has only 2, and our summer temperatures often exceed 40°C (104°F). In Sport mode and driven with some spirit the engine never exceeds 93°C.

However, when I stopped to clean gunk off the windscreen the exhaust gasses were HOT as I crossed behind the car!

On the 981 it also depends on Manual/PDK.
S with manual didn't had the 3. radiator, with PDK it had. I dont know if this is still the case on the 718.

Until now I didn't remember seeing a 718 GTS without the 3. radiator.
Don't forget this new turbo engines generates more heat than the older N/A engines. I know that is was quite a challenge in the development phase to prevent overheating of the engines, especially because there is almost no space left in the engine department.

So having a 3. radiator in the GTS is a plus in every case.
But the openings a quite big and stones and other things can come in and destroy the radiators. That is not uncommon on all Porsche models without a mesh/grill, like the GT4 and GT3.

I changed that on my GTS. Looks good and protects the radiators.

www.zunsport.com could be a easy solution, but until now they don't have something for the 718 GTS.

I have a bespoke solution. My meshs are clued from behind, so the front must be removed to install them.
Most of the zunsport grills are plugged and can be removed easily.

You mean an option on the configuration? If so I can’t find it there.

Or buy it after the fact?

All GTS and Sport design have the third rad by deafult, seems like Porsche see these as "track cars"
If you dont have one of the above you have to ask for the third rad if you dont live in a warm place like saudi Arabia, there its standard.
You cant find it in the configurator but in the Tech introduction :)

This question is slightly off topic....I have a base 2018 718 (options: mt, pasm, no sc). How does the oil cooling system work in my car? Specifically, when I set the car to sport mode, the oil temp drops (eventually) from around 215 to around 195.

Its the same on S, in sport or sport+ the car is "track ready" with better oil cooling :)

Sorry. I didn't state the question properly. It is not why it works, but how it works. Is there a secondary oil cooling device that kicks in when I go to sport mode, or some other thermodynamic magic? (Base 718, mt, pasm no sc).

See this post of mine in another thread. This is part of the ECU driving mode programming; it's common and not at all unusual in performance-oriented cars.

FYI: The post above also has some anecdotal info regarding the use of an extra cooling radiator in certain trim levels of the BMW 2 Series. Turns out, like the 718 GTS, the extra radiator is an unadvertised 'extra' with certain 2 Series trim options.

Ordered a center radiator with all requisite installation hardware today after eyeballing yet another GTS on the road.
It's only proper to disclose that mine has never run hot on oil or water temperatures even during 100°F HDPEs.

That $2.00 blanking plate on my otherwise sexy front end bespeaks 'option delete' and is soon going away.
Will update members on its installation in due course.
