Lately, on cold start I have a strange noise coming from the engine, last week, when the car was at the dealer for an oil change, they could not replicate it. I let them hear this recording and got told it couldn't hurt.
Anyone who has had the same? A recording of the sound: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UBfZEhraEH4AWzE6A-CH1B0QplivR2ym/view?usp=sharing
I assume you're referring to the momentary chirp. That sounds like the proximity alert tone to me. Are you parked close to anything when this happens?

If not, I can't tell from the clip what you're hearing. Can you pinpoint the mark where it occurs?

Not parked near anything, it doesn’t happen on every startup. The sound can be located somewhere in the middle of the car behind the driver. It does not sound like a belt or something mechanical. If you mean pinpoint the mark, do you mean where it happens in the soundclip?

It sounds like an electronic chirp (warning). I heard it once, as I was driving away from a hotel garage in Montreal and increased the revs (cold) to catch a traffic light. I thought it is either a traffic camera or an engine alarm. Never heard it again...

In seconds: 1to3 me turning key and starting engine its on 4 seconds you can hear it.
Ok, thanks. That's where I thought you meant, so I made a loop and listened ten times. I still think it sounds like the caution tone for the proximity (parking) system.

I have no idea how that might help you, though, other than to check all the bumper sensors. It's odd for that to be happening. Of course, with so many processors working behind the scenes, I suppose it shouldn't be surprising that one of them produces a stray tone now and then.

One final thought. I see you're in Belgium. I'm assuming you have the European-style front license plate for what follows: I saw a video from a guy in the U.S. who put one of those on his U.S.-spec Cayman's front bumper and it caused the parking sensor to go off on every start, which he had to manually mute. It was obviously because the car was spec'd for our size plates, not Euro ones. Perhaps what you're hearing is a momentary lapse in the processor as it "remembers" what kind of plate it's supposed to "look" around.

Mine did the same chirp today, and it happened when my pdk shifted to 2nd gear, around 2-3krpm, then once more in the next shift as well. Then I didn't hear any more.
The car is not always chirping like this.

The strange thing is that my car is a manual transmission. I had it once shifting gears while driving the other times it's when I start the engine. It is occuring about 1 on 5 startups.

My 2018 base 718 cayman with manual trans has had this same issue since the day I purchased it new. The engine makes an alarming loud mechanical beeping like noise that changes drastically in pitch and length depending on engine temp when accelerating at RPMs between 2000 to 5000 in first second and third gears. The problem mostly occurs on cold start ups especially when outside temps are on the cooler side however I have experienced the issue a few times on extremely hot days when car was operating at full engine temps but with rapid short chirping lasting 5-10 seconds long. The noise seems to be coming from the passenger side of the engine. I will upload a video of the car making the noise. I am currently working with my local dealer but unfortunately they supposedly weren't able to replicate the issue. I have shown them multiple videos of the car making the noise and they are completely puzzled by it and have no idea on how to resolve the problem. I will be taking the car back soon and will update you guys.
