Yes, a day to enjoy the 718! On my way to the next county, I chose to drive the canyon road along the river for 25 miles rather than the freeway over the ridges ending up in the same place. There is a third alternative too but it involves 18 miles of gravel so I won't go there in the Cayman! On the outskirts of town the right lane goes toward the canyon and the left lane is the freeway onramp. I noticed an eager highway patrol behind me... why else would a Porsche choose the canyon route other than to go fast and have fun?? So maybe some anticipation on both our parts!
As we clear the city limits the speed limit goes up from 35 to 50, and I set the cruise control to 52. Not quite enough to get stopped... After about 4 miles on the straight and level the road crosses a bridge over a creek as it joins the river and the speed limit in the canyon is 45. Boo.... it's comfy yet somewhat stimulating at 60. I reset the cruise to 47 mph. The officer is still right behind. About half a mile into the canyon he pulls over to the side, lets another car pass him, and turns on the pretty blue and red flashers. I guess the other car came up on him at some ticketable speed. Good, we know there's only one patrol assigned to the canyon and we know where he is! That began a pretty fast trip along that curvy road, good compensation for having to see the dentist!
