Just to put a damper on the post title. Thursday driving on the Hwy 1 to Point Reyes Station with top down I was the target of a large bird. Bird droppings on hood, windshield, headrest and rear deck. Perfectly lined up on driver side. Bird must have been using a Norden bombsite. Bird must have been very satisfied by it's accuracy.

Nice drive even with the distraction. "Happy 718 day" anyway.

In all my years of driving roadsters I was never hit by a bird. You must be special indeed!

I have been hit twice on other occasions though. Once we were walking through Woods Hole on Cape Cod and a seagull hit me smack dab on my head. One surgical strike, impressively accurate. On another occasion a flock of geese strafed us while we were riding our tandem bicycle. One of them scored a direct hit on me. Evasive maneuvers, Mr.Sulu! (It wasn't enough.) Fortunately my helmet protected me from a serious head strike but my jersey was ready for replacement right away.

In the movie Under the Tuscan Sun the protagonist heroine was hit by a pigeon or something and they said it was a sign of good luck.
