Had my first experience with my local Porsche dealership to fix a door rattle and the experience has been...average. Not sure what I expected but thought it would be better than I experienced. Same old delays, poor communication, sloppy work, etc...am I alone in this experience?

My closest dealer (Carlsen) where I bought previous Macan has been very professional with service, even though my current Cayman was not purchased there. The one time I dropped in to Burlingame where I bought my Cayman, they were able to accommodate me on the spot.

With respect to the southeast coast of Florida I would be very curious to hear about experience with Melbourne Porsche, Brahman (West Palm Beach), and/or Champion (Pompano).

I only have 6,500 miles on my Boxster and will eventually need the 10K service so would like to have some feedback on how these three dealers compare. I found the Brahman BMW service dept to be too arrogant and disrespectful to consider so not likely to use them. I am especially interested in how Champion has performed since geographically they are the most likely dealer service I will use but will also consider Melbourne.

I have heard good things about the Melbourne dealership, but haven't been there. They are very active supporters of the local PCA. It is one of three dealers that are almost equidistant to me so I've got to select one before March next year. Let me know if you go there and how it was.

Not happy with the service experience? When the inevitable survey finds it way to you, let them know what was good and bad, and be honest. You can also choose to have them contact you by phone or email about your survey. If you don't tell them your not happy, how will they know, and how will they be able to take corrective action? Plus, the incentives they get from Porsche are partially based on the survey's, which is why the service writers always ask you to give them high marks on the survey's.

I have heard good things about the Melbourne dealership
Haley was my salesperson and I cannot say enough to emphasize what a good job she does. The sales experience was excellent. She is great!

The money guy that did the final sales thing just before we left for the Atlanta PEC to take delivery was unacceptable IMO as he would not take “no” for an answer. His much too hard push to sell extended maintenance, tinted windows, radar detectors, paint film, etc. was not at all professional and very offensive. He really pissed me off and did a lot to negate the good feelings established during the sales process. The most offensive thing he did was to push hard to sell a “three year extended maintenance plan” that is really only two years because the first year is included in the warranty. True, it takes included maintenance to three full years but it is certainly not the three years he implied I was buying. I will not buy another car from Melbourne if I have to deal with him again.

I am not sure the hard sell at the end is unique to that dealership. I experienced some of that at the Jacksonville dealership, but to a lesser extent than what you describe. I still felt like I had to justify why I didn't want the add-ons which is not acceptable. But thanks for the info. Hopefully both dealer's service departments are excellent.

I bought my car a few hours away and the experience was great (Porsche of Austin in Texas). The finance guy emailed me some options, I politely declined everything except for a negotiated rate on wheel/tire protection, and signed the paperwork when I got there, no BS. Most of my other car purchases followed the experience above, just really bad, pushy behavior for all the add ons. Feels so old school and slimy.

Same with me. I didn’t expect to buy my Cayman the day I did but it was such a great deal. Then I had to talk with the dreaded finance guy. **** I was caught off guard. He opened his folder of options and started the pitch before I got to stop him. Out of respect I let him go but then politely declined everything.... telling him I was already spending more than I planned. He gave me a look of complete shock... Or maybe it was disgust. He said something like “people that buy these cars always do something”. Well. I must be a first. He was pissed but I stayed calm. It did taint my experience a bit honestly.

Purchased our last two cars (2017 SL 450 & my BS) 1000+ miles away. Both very low mileage CPO’s with virtually zero “Finance Butthead” intervention. Agree to a specified cash price then simply state you desire nothing more or you walk. Distance definitely made my car buying experience much more palatable...actually enjoyable.

I stayed quiet over the whole hard sell, just saying 'is that all'?

When she finished she had a bill just north of $8k.

She looked expectantly and I said, 'I don't think so, thanks anyway'...

She tried to say something and I repeated 'thanks anyway' and that was that.

What REALLY HECKS ME OFF, is that they didn't tell me about the pre-paid maintenance (which was already pre-paid), although I asked specifically about a maintenance plan. Also, they didn't tell me that the car had clear wrap over everything facing forward. They tried to sell me a ceramic coating... Finally, they didn't tell me that the two front tires were Goodyears and the two rear ones Michelin PS4S! The SAs in both Ray Catena Porsche and Porsche North Houston were appalled that they sold a CPO with mismatched tires.(n)

I am getting e-mails from them every couple of months like 'where have you been?' 'it's time for a service'...

I saw the finance guy briefly about midway through the process to explain how the "good faith" payment would be handled and then it was the sales manager who did the sales job on the extras. He basically explained them all and how wonderful it is to have them and then gave me the deadlines for deciding what I wanted. He did kind of push the wheel and tire coverage, which I did take and have used to have a curbed wheel refinished. I've been back to the Service department three times (plus one for the wheel) in the past year (first with my list of things I thought were a concern but ended up weren't, then twice for pre-track inspections) none of which have cost me a penny. The dealership paid for my first HPDE (which they sponsor), and now when I go in for my first annual service, it will be free also. So, so far, I'm pretty happy. During the pre-track (tech) inspections, I've received valuable advice from the mechanics. My wife thinks I'm the ultimate smoozer, but others in the local PCA have had similar experiences. I'm sure there are those who haven't had good experiences at Blue Grass Motorsport in Louisville, KY, but I haven't heard/read them. Well, I remember reading one, but apparently they kissed and made up as there was a follow up post with a satisfactory ending.

Mine has been terrific. My advisor in Princeton, NJ has shared numerous conversations with me about how different models perform and just arranged for me to attend a driving experience at NJ Motorsports Park next week to drive and compare the 991.2 vs. 992. Can’t wait!

Did they share the CPO report with you? it should have identified it.
Definitely, a poor job from them.

On the maintenance plan issue, my CPO car came with the 2 year plan..which i was not informed off either.

I purchased our CPO 2017 718 BS by phone from Blue Grass Motorsport in March 2019. We agreed on the details fairly quickly and at no time during the process did I feel "overly" pressured. I firmly stated prior to the sales pitch that I had zero intention of purchasing anything other than the car. Thus, they politely whizzed through the obligatory presentation in what seemed like 2 minutes.

The car arrived at my door via covered carrier ~1000 miles from BGM, in total showroom condition. I'm completely baffled as to how the previous owner put 1,075 miles on the car and left no visible signs of usage. Overall, my BGM experience was nothing short of exceptional. Many thanks to Caroline (SA) and Jonathan (Finance) at BGM!

got my factory ordered 718 cayman in the Edinburgh Porsch Center, very happy with them. I dont know how it could have been better, exept maybe if they had given me the car for free.
Gave me the key of a cayman so I can go have a try, just, take the keys, go have fun, little coffee and cake each time I popped by, answered my million of emails very quickly, when the car was finally there they ve put up a lil' show when I picked it up .... and I got an umbrella ... wich is **** useful in Scotland.

I have been unhappy with my dealer's service, to the point where:

  • I've basically given up on having a recall done (the fuel tank bracing) because the dealer's never followed up with me on it after saying it had to order the parts ... nearly seven months ago.
  • I've given the female cyber-persona that the dealer uses to personalize its service emails info about how dissatisfied I am ... and have never received a response. From anyone.
  • During my last visit, I received begrudging agreement to use an oil brand other than what the dealer typically uses -- even though that brand is on Porsche's approved-oils list -- After not one, not two, but three requests.

The only visits my dealer will get from me now are for warranty claims. I'm an indie convert. I gave my dealer a chance. It failed, pretty darned miserably.
