I flew past a Texas State Trooper at 106mph in a 65mph zone.....he must have been looking the other way or to busy to bother but man that ticket would have been a whooper........So ordered the Uniden R3....
I stand corrected. Maybe you can be stealth in Miami Blue.

Don't know what he was doing but man was I lucky....my wife said COP COP COP.....she is my Police Detector until my Uniden R3 arrives. Though, by the time I past him it was a tad late. It was a back road non-residential/non-commercial we thought we were off the beaten path, apparently not quite.
Though, I have to say on two occasions I passed police officers while they were ticketing speeders and both turned and starred at the CS. Maybe they were thinking that's a nice car or possibly, I can't wait to give him a ticket.0:)

Had the Uniden R3 for a couple of days and this is my first radar detector. Impressions: followed all the recommendations and settings by "Vortex Radar", and have found this unit chirps quite often without any real apparent threat. My feeling is that Radar detectors, for me at least, are an intrusive, noisy* gimmick of low utility. This unit was touted as being quite effective and reliable but is a total waste of my time and money ($400). I am returning my R3 post haste will not be seduced by the hype or false/inflated claims again. What do they say.....fool me once shame on you.....fool me twice shame on me.

*the incessant chirping is monumentally annoying

It's a radar detector. It's detecting radar. Expecting a radar detector to be a cop detector is fallacious.

They do a good job and mine has saved me thousands of dollars over the years I've owned it. I have a valentine one. There are false alerts, you learn to deal with them. It's a tool like anything else. They're not for everyone.

You can get one of the escort detectors that has GPS that allows you to "tune out" areas where there are false radars so you don't get any beeps.

I hard wired my Valentine 1. I ran the power wire in the slight gap up by the window and headliner. I ran the wire thru here and push the wire inside A-pillar by using upholstery plastic piece. You can use it to open the gap at the top where A-pillar is joining headliner. I then ran the wire down to the fuse box at passenger foot well.

Valentine 1 has a directional source indicator and # of radar sources. This helps a lot toward determining real police/highway patrol radars.
