Hey everyone! I'm Mike, Marketing Manager of Soul Performance Products. I've worked in the auto industry my entire life, from selling aftermarket parts to bringing new exhaust products to life for several manufacturers - cameras and cars are my thing. I enjoy being at SOUL where we make every effort to deliver a top notch customer service experience to back up our products.

While I don't own a P car - every order puts me one step closer to a Cayman of my own! :)

I currently drive a Subaru BRZ with a decent amount of mods - enough to keep it civil. It has an unequal length header for a boxer rumble - so I should fit right in here! :) My previous build was 90' Miata that I labored intensively over, from the vintage British inspired interior to the clean engine bay. It was a little rocketship, I miss it.

If anyone ever has any questions, concerns, or comments I'm always here to help.

I guess you never found all the 'sounds like a Subaru' comments directed at 9A2B4 particularly damning, though they were/are usually meant to be....

Replace Subaru with 'flat-four quad-cam boxer turbo with flatplane-crank and unequal-length headers' and all those trolls just read 'sounds honest to the very good configuration it is' -- which never felt esp. damning to me anyway.

The BRZ is a very nice drive.

Wow that engine set up in the 3rd photo looks special. What were the specs on that? I assume that was in the Miata, any mods like that in your BRZ?
Thank you! Yes it was in the Miata. It was the 1.6L with a rebuilt head, deshrouded valve ports, HKS 256 cams, and upgraded valvetrain - stock bottom end. It had a GT2560R turbo pushing 12-15 psi. 242 whp, 207 ft-lbs of torque. You can see all the details here. It was a great experience researching, building, and tuning it. I'd love to do a 1.8L setup someday.

The BRZ has a full intake / exhaust setup - minus the factory catted overpipe. The 718 has the benefit of turbos eliciting a sweeter sound, but you remove all catalytic converters on the N/A flat 4 and it sounds like someone threw a megaphone into a bee hive. Bilstein shock setup, a few poly bushings here and there. Upgraded clutch and flywheel was a must - huge increase in drivability. A few interior optimizations. All around a great car for the money, even with the anemic engine for its class. Hopping into the 718 feels like a natural next step in the evolution.

Back in the Fast and Furious era (when they were cheesy car films and not over the top action films) the WRX / STi and Evo were mostly respected as very good and fast cars for what they were (when the 5 speed trans and pistons weren't breaking). Now everyone makes jokes about them being chariots for vapers and flat brim hatted bros - but I still remember when Colin McRae was tossing them around the woods at full bore and that's what the "boxer rumble" represents to me. Everyone loves to complain about the Porsche 4 pot and compare it to the flat six, and there is definitely some merit to it....but when you walk away from them in terms of performance their words tend to get drowned out by boxer rumble. :D

My son used to work for a small company that built Miatas for SCCA racing including suspension and engines. Amazing what he could get out of those things.
That's awesome! The engines are not great performing air pumps compared to other engines of the day like the Honda B16 but they are **** near bullet proof with a linear power band. It really is quite exciting to see them being wrung out for everything they have and faring well against the competition on track.
