I am very pleased to join your forum.I have a beautiful white 718 Cayman S,purchased in January 2018 . So far 6000 kms of driving . I previously owner a 98 Boxster ,99 Carrera 911 coup & 2005 997 Carrera 911S. I traded both 911s for the 718. I was sad to see them go but i am so happy with the performance & technology in the 718 .i was unaware of the engine sound issue until after i picked up my 718 & watched some you tube reviews & read the comments . However, i also love the 718 engine sound especially when i take it for a regular blast on the local twisty hinterland roads . i have been following this forum for a couple of months but being a tech bonehead i have only just registered & logged in successfully today for the first time .Hopefully i can log on again in the future & contribute to the discussions .All the best from down under .

Very cool, and welcome.

My path to 718 also came directly through a pair of 911s and prev-gen Boxster (still wearing a P996 license plate). I know there are many others around here with prior Porsche flat-six history. Maybe *that* would be a good category for a sub-forum (something we've been batting around in a recent thread): a place for those of us with flat-six backgrounds to compare/contrast the 718 engine and driving experience. I think we could provide a more balanced and rational perspective than the 'legacy' Porsche forums.

Yes, OP: welcome!

(OK, playing devil's advocate here: )

I feel that a subforum dedicated to former flat-6 owners would both invite and incite the kind of abuse and trolling we 718 owners endure(d) daily on the 'other' forums. Perhaps eventually -- but the mechanically bigoted in the above regard are still quite vocal over yonder. I don't want what, in my mind, would basically be a sanctioned subforum for those types to pollinate to become a reason for them to come over here.

I think we should start with a non-Porsche 718 subforum and go from there. Baby steps. :)
