Today I placed my order for a 718 base model, my first Porsche. Since joining the site I've been avidly reading your posts to learn as much as I can. Thanks all.

I traded in my 2015 Mineral Gray 228i M-Sport BMW on a 2005 Boxster S as part of the deal. Dealer says to expect to wait 5 months or so for my Cayman to arrive. The Boxster is a "bridge" car which they will credit as down payment at the full price I paid. Their rationale was that the BMW might not hold it's value, but they could guarantee the Boxster buyback dollar for dollar. Meanwhile I'm enjoying the 6 speed S, Sport Chrono and tuning up my double clutching, rev matching shifting. I already like this dealer.

Cheers.

Welcome! That sounds like an excellent and very creative deal on your 718 order. What color and configuration for your base model? I too traded-in my BMW last August for the Cayman... mine was a 1999 M3 in Fern Green Metallic which I'd bought in 2001. The new Cayman is quite different in character... Expect you'll enjoy yours as well!

I second that welcome & as Cinnamon stated that's pretty creative on the part of the dealer. After all a 2015 BMW will still be shedding value extremely quickly whilst that 2005 Boxster has slowed down to a snails pace in terms of loss. It makes sense to me, especially as they're guaranteeing the buyback. Nice one!
I was leaning towards Guards Red, but during the order spec crunch I chose Night Blue. They had a blue Boxster on the floor with lots of bright sunlight streaming in. Well, I just couldn't resist it.
Here's a pic of my trade-in "bridge" 2005 Boxster

Hello Vldjc9,

Welcome to the forum!

Wow man, that's a great deal! And I agree, Porsche will never loose its value.
So many people drive BMWs in North America, so this brand becomes mass.

I am from BC as well! Can you please share the name of the dealership so I can check them out?

It's the dealer in Victoria --- ask for Silvio.
