Bet you miss dropping the roof today. I changed my 981 Boxster for a 718 Boxster S. Happy enough with the soundtrack difference and performance and better looking car but I get some vibration rattles from the back window area and the brakes /suspension still creaks after 5000 miles. I'm sure I'm just unlucky and hopefully dealer can identify and fix when I get round to taking it back 110 miles to Cambridge! Best of luck with yours.

It's a bit snowy up here this morning so it probably would not have been down today.

The real test is driving it in Italy in the Summer. The jaunt down to Rimini with the roof down is one of my yearly highlights. We will see.

Hope you get the faults fixed soon.

Hello form the North West of England,

Just changed from a 981 Boxster to a 718 Cayman.

I will post some pics when I am allowed.
Congratulations! Didn't much care for the 981 and after a test drive of the 981 was about to write Porsche off but then I test drove the 718.......
.

I had the same experience. I test drove a base 981 and really disliked the lack of low end torque. I wrote off the Cayman until I test drove the 718.

I also had the same experience. I REALLY liked the look of the Boxster since the 981 and had been planning on getting one as soon as my mortgage reached zero. I found the 718 styling a side-grade in the aesthetic department, but was put off by all the reviews/forums stating the lack of 'soul' and terrible engine noise.

I test drove a used 981 first, and was underwhelmed. Hopped in the 718, and both my wife and I were in love. I immediately realised that I was buying a car for myself, not for all the Porsche purists on the internet.

Welcome to the forum Malcolm. The 718 is a great drive.

Except you guys are obviously colour blind. It's obvious that Racing Yellow is the only colour to have.
I don't know, what you think Malcolm? Racing yellow isn't half bad.......almost as good as MB. Though, we have to admit, RL certainly looks like a fun color/colour.

Congrats! Hope you love it as much as we do!!

I had a similar experience but test drove the 718S first. I simply loved the power, handling, confort, style and of course the lovely sound. Then, I test drove a beautiful 981S. I was immediately turned of by the low end torque (also mid end...). Of course, the sound was nice (with PSE) but it was far from being able to compensate the lack of power.

I find it funny when those who heavily criticise the 718 for its sound call themselves "purists". Some may also call "purists" those who want decent power (by 2018 standards... and they are high) for the money and criticise the lack of low end torque of the 981.

In the end, everyone should buy what they like. No one should criticize those who choose something else or even criticize what they choose. Continuing to fiercely criticize what a group loves is a lack of class ... especially coming from purists ...

Anyway! enjoy your 718!!!
