Hello!

New owner of a 718 Cayman GTS 6 Speed in Chalk

I have a factory black/black Porsche spoiler trim, however I bought the chrome logo one to install. Does anyone have directions or guide to changing that.

Thank you!

This should get you started.

That is for the spoiler adjustment but you likely need to get into the same location.

There are a few threads on this in the Exterior subforum, which is where I've moved this thread. You'll find some answers there. It is not an easy job, but it's not difficult, either. As long as you're comfortable with removing/installing body parts, you'll be fine.

Soooo, did anyone actually change the whole part?
There are a couple of threads on this here, but nobody seems to have done it yet

I ordered the part from a european website - parts-nr: 982807659A 041 (208,60 € official Porsche Germany price) - and I'm going to try and replace it myself

It would be nice if anynone could give me a tip or share some details on how they've actually done it

This is what I have found out so far, without touching my car:
Seems to me, that you "only" have to get to Screws Nr 15 on either side and uncsrew Nr 17. then pull it outwards.
Obvíously the spoiler needs to be up for that.
As I'm going to chance the backlights to the darker ones, this should be done in one sitting, because you have to pull out the backlights in order to get to Nr 15.

I think I'll do a thread on the DIY forum if I'm successful :D

To me it looks like
  • spoiler removal
  • tail lights removal
  • #3 deck trim under spoiler removal
and screws #15, 17 as you mention

It looks like the lower edge clips into the bumper skin.

I plan to do this eventually.
I just did the Plasti-dip paint over the chrome for now, to see if I like the look.

soooo I changed it
it's a two man job, because unfortunately you have to remove the back bumper and I surely can't do that by myself

There are 8 screws and a lot of clips that you can only get to with the bumper removed just to detach parts Nr 3 and 4 (look at the picture I posted before)

It was impossible to document it thoroughly because it was a 3-4 hour long trial and error operation with a buddy of mine - sorry for that guys
Here's one picture where you can see the crazy amount of clips for these two parts:

The final result is awesome - I also got the darker lights:

Looks great! What was the tail light removal/install procedure like? Swapping mine for the clear ones is definitely on my short list of things to do.

Tail light removal can be difficult or easy depending on how strong the Lights are "stuck" on your car
Unfortunately it took too long to unstuck them at my car... on my buddy's car, they were more easy to remove
and the screw is very long that's holding each tail light, so it takes a couple of minutes to do them both

There are some videos on youtube on how to do that
<- the easy one
<- when they are more stuck on your car
