Hi all,

Great to find this specialized 718 forum! I've traded in my 987.1 Cayman S for a base 718 Boxster last week. Will be pickup it up next week (after the Porsche check on Monday). The Cayman was perfect with all the IMS weaknesses solved. It even had a great Öhlins road&track set... But after driving the 718 for a couple of miles I was sold. Can't wait :)

Firstly, Welcome to the 718 Forum & Congratulations! Your story of one test drive of the 718 and you were sold sounds very familiar to all of us. It pulls hard and low in the rev range which was starkly different from the 981 Cayman and Boxster. A little road rocket...........Be sure to post some pictures because we never get enough of those.......

Yup. Had some doubts about buying a 718 after some of the negative press it received, but as soon as I started up the demo car I was thinking "what are these idiot journalists talking about?" handling, looks, and performance-wise it is just so much better than the old 987.

Agreed?.

My guess is that the journos grew up appreciating 6 cylinder engines and the even beat of the exhaust. I grew up appreciating the lumpy, off-beat sound of V8s. The 718 matched my preferences.

(I won't say anything about young guys liking 'their' "music"--thrash, etc.):ROFLMAO:
