I just hit the 20,000 mile mark this weekend.

I don't know of anyone with 50,000 miles on their 718's clock yet.

From what I remember from other threads/posts, a few members are right at 30,000 miles which is spark plug replacement time....

I am mid 21,000 miles and have had no issues other than the disappearing 3rd gear which was a warranty fix requiring a new transmission. Still a long way off 50,000 miles though!

I've had the car just under 17 months. Just did my 30K service. Other than the transmission that was replaced under warranty everything running great. 25 track days on it so far as well. Should hit the 50k mark sometime next year at this rate.

Mine is at 44k miles and I suspect it's one of the highest mileage 718s (March 2017 build). I'm collecting the necessary tools so I can do my first oil change on the car (previous caretaker of the car had the oil changes done at their local dealership); lots of good info in the forums here. I had an O2 sensor issue that took a while to fix due to a shortage of replacement sensors. Other than a yellow caution/police/construction tape getting tossed up by the rear right side wheel and wrapped onto my exhaust header, stinking badly like a hot glue gun, my time with the car has been trouble free. There were well documented coolant system issues on the earlier 718 builds, Car & Driver covered the coolant issues with my car very well. No further coolant issues have been encountered by me. My MT is working great, especially considering the beating it took from C&D staffers.

It'll be a while yet before I reach 50k... Just turning 20k this week on Canadian vacation. Will put new OEM Michelin 4S on when I return. Fronts are still ~7/32 and rears are 4+ not quite hitting the wear bars. RR is wearing a bit more than LR so I swapped the wheels left-right to even them out. The original Goodyear Eagles have served well, especially surprisingly well in unexpected icy conditions about this time in 2017 when only a few months worn. I am surprised also at how well they're lasting, even with no track use. I understand the Michelins are quieter, a big plus for me. Few maintenance issues; just the two call-backs for fuel tank bracket and side air-intake screens, plus an odd electrical issue that made the start-knob unreliable, fixed by changing an electical box somewhere up front. Oh, I have pulled the fuse for the sound aktor with no ill effect...?

I have Goodyear Eagle in the front (courtesy of the previous owner, mine being a CPO) and they are like Dracula... After 20k mi. they refuse to die. After the trip NYC to Houston, I am going to drive a stake through them, or use a silver bullet or whatever it takes, and match my rear Michelin PS4S...

Just approaching 16,000 miles since June last year as its my company car. My biggest issue is rattles or resonance from the passenger door which drives me nuts. I have also noticed the caliper bolts are rusty. I will get both looked at when its due its first service.
Nice company car!

For the door rattles, check that the seat belt 'slider' holds the tongue up to the top. If the tongue is part way down it rattles a LOT.

Only complaint was a buzz in the drivers door at about 8000 mi. Took it in and the dealership re-glued a clip which had come loose and was running loose in the bottom of the door. No more buzz. Car just turned 17k. I put it up on jacks once a month to look for problems while still under warranty, but so far nothing.

A nice article, but I have to wonder why these people are so hard on cars. Yeah, I know they don't own the cars they drive, but is that an excuse for abuse? They seemed almost proud to have destroyed only one wheel on the Cayman. They went on to say this: "A Jaguar XE that overlapped the Boxster in the long-term garage suffered three damaged wheels and 10 spent tires in its 40,000 miles. "

WTF? I'm 75 years old and I've driven various cars aggressively in all sorts of conditions on all sorts of roads and in a variety of countries including Iran where I lived for several years. My wheel damage record is limited to a time or two scraping a curb, an error which I consider about as horrible as sticking an ice-pick in my eye. How can these people ruin wheels so frequently? I know about pot holes and I hit plenty of them when I lived in New York; there's no way to avoid it. But even with very low profile tires on alloy wheels I never ruined a wheel, certainly not three in 40k miles.

I don't get it. Has anyone else here wrecked three wheels in 40k miles?

Just think: unexceptional drivers driving unfamiliar cars with no financial or other responsibility for damages.
This is why you don't want to buy a 'press' car under any circumstances.

You'll find they are manual (see faizaans signature) and 3rd gear is a relatively more common fault with manual transmissions.

No 718 PDK failures to my knowledge although they do occur. Usually track cars from what I've read.
Porsche rectified the 3rd gear MT issue some time ago, so 2019 (at least) and newer are okay.

Yup. From my understanding it was the 6MT for the 2016 GT4, but was also used on some very late 981 GTS and early 718 6MT. 3rd gear welded instead of splined I was told, updated in the latter versions. For the GT4 they actually recalled it, for the 718 it seems they're just warrantying the ones that fail.

I had mine replaced at around 22k miles and 20 track days. Another 30 or so track days and 27k miles on the new one with no issues.
