Any 718 owners having Homelink problems? I programmed my system, but it only works sporadically. I've tried placing the car in different positions on the driveway, or on the street when I drive up to the house. Sometimes the garage doors work, sometimes not and almost never on the first try.

Anybody else have similar problems or any suggestions??

Thanks

Nick Murray noted this issue on his new 911 on his youtube channel when he did his 1 month update. Seems it might be a Porsche thing and not model specific. Then again, I have the same issue with my BMW 2 series. Frustrating, to say the least. He stated that getting it to fail for a dealer to see might be impossible so he may just have to live with the issue.

I tried to program Homelink when I had my 911 and I could not get the darn thing programmed right. I finally gave up and used my second garage door opener. Of course I do acknowledge that the problem could have been operator error.

Lucky you!!! :) Your garage door opens sporadically. I could not get the thing to work at all. My Cayman makes all the right light flashings, but the door won't open or close. We have owned 5 different cars (4 Subaru 1 VW) and they have all worked fine. With my Porsche, no go. :(

Our garage door opener is a LiftMaster/Chamberlain. I got my car in December and tried to get this to work many time during the first 2 months of owning my Cayman before I gave up. It was to cold, and I ran out of patients.

I contacted LiftMaster/Chamberlain tech support and the representative walked me through the very same steps I tried. She gave up saying that I needed to take my car back to the dealer because the Homelink control unit in the car must be defective. Since so many Porsche owners were experiencing this problem, I figured taking it to the dealer would probably be a waste of time.

I added a piece of velcro to the back of the Liftmaster remote, then stuck the remote to the fabric inside the front driver's door pocket. I'm sure I will try again.

It's funny that this subject came up, because I FINALLY got mine working yesterday. I had gone through all the steps 3 times but nothing...

A youtube video set me straight. After the car is set up, you have to put the opener through the "learn" process, as though you're setting up a new remote.

Doesn't seem to have the range of a handheld remote though.

I have relatively new LiftMaster openers (installed in Nov 2015). I think they're 8355s (they have Z-Wave interfaces, etc). I'm not going to be any help here because I was able to pair all 3 of my doors, and so far no operational issues. I'm just wondering if that's because my openers are newer & LiftMaster made some improvements recently?

We have a Macan & 718 Cayman S. Both work perfectly now, but I was having the same problem as everyone has described. Following the directions as described in the manual, did not seem to work. So I started from scratch and went through the process of deleting possible codes which may have been introduced to the system prior to our taking possession of the vehicles even though both were new with us being the first owners. Well, it worked and still working fine. Make sure to check to see if you have the rolling code, because it makes a difference in how you program the Homelink. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your comments. I thought I eliminated the possible codes correctly and I do have a rolling code system, so my plan is to go through everything again. The weird thing is that it worked fine for about half a day and then began to become more and more flaky until now, where it doesn't work at all.
