If you have Entry & Drive just slide the key fob into the leather pouch and put it in your pocket. It is to protect the key to keep it from getting scratched up. You should have the sensors for the front and rear trunks so you don't even need to take out the key to open them. It seems a bit bulk though but that's a personal preference so you can use it or not, your choice.
My entry level Boxster does not have Entry and Drive, so I have to use buttons on the key fob to unlock the door and then put the key into the slot and turn it to start the car.

SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed for those outside the UK) has Entry and Drive on her Executive Model Mercedes........

(Runs away to hide in the corner, to suck thumb)

I am glad my Cayman does not have Entry and Drive, frankly. I think it makes a thief's job a lot easier whilst offering barely any more convenience for the user.

We keep the fobs for the Merc in a Faraday cage to block it from those who would try to steal the car. The Porsche key lives in my pocket.
So yes, I agree....

I do have a base Boxster but have entry and drive. 2021. What level gets the nifty key jacket? It would fit nicely in my purse. :giggle:

Sadly, it's an option at every model level. The dealer probably threw this in gratis if you purchased a new car.

Everyone that pays the $500 or so that they charge for it gets one. What a deal!

Thanks, Treemagnet! I will see if they have it in the Porsche shop at my dealer and maybe get one during my 2 yr service. OUCH, Steve. Maybe I can shame them into a discount. o_O

those stylish key pouches can be yours for the sum of ~ $140; offered in many of the Porsche interior colors (including Bordeaux Red) - mainly its offered with the painted key fob option to protect it from getting scratches / chips

The $500 (actually $470 USD) is to order a painted key and the pouch when you order your car. Porsche Tequipment sells the pouch only for $189.22 CDN and I assume $140 USD as Hal indicates. You can actually get coloured panels for the key from a number of Amazon sources. I bought red (obviously) for about $30 CDN and it looks OEM.
Hey there! the Porsche car key and leather pouch are great and cute. It's a great way to keep your keys stylishly protected. Just be sure to regularly check that your keys are secure in the pouch to prevent them from falling out or getting lost. And remember to remove the pouch from your keys before handing them over to a valet or mechanic. Additionally, you may want to consider storing your pouch in a safe place when you're not using it to ensure it stays in good condition. Enjoy your new accessory and happy driving!

It’s supposed to be thrown away by someone with a matching car - my (yellow) build is scheduled for Friday so I’m likely the best person to dispose of it.
