How much would your 718 cost if you bought it new today?

I bought my pre-owned, well-optioned 2017 718 Base Cayman last year for ~$55k (w/tax & reg), with 30k miles. I recently went into the Porsche configurator to see what I'd pay if I bought it new today. Not including PPF (which I have installed) it came out to ~$100k (w/tax & reg)! Wow! I mean, I love my car but I don't know if I would have thrown down $100k to buy it new.

What about you? Have you priced your 718 to see what it would cost you today?

My 2021 GTS 4.0 (December 2020 delivery) would now cost about 20% more ($121,000 vs $101,000 CAD). About $3,000 of that is a new “luxury tax” we now get to pay.
Mine would be much less than yours. Yours must be really loaded. Plus, no sales tax in Oregon, so that helps.

I bought my 2018 2 litre Cayman in February of 2022, also paid $55k. It had 22,000 miles then, and still under factory warranty through the end of this month (May '23).

Optioned as close as possible to the same as what I have now comes to $81k. Of course, if I was buying new, there are a few things I'd add that I don't have currently, which would bump it to a bit over $86k.

Would I do that? Dunno. Buying used is a much better deal...

I am in Australia and bought my '17 BS in 2020 with lots (but not all) of options (SC, PASM, Turbo Wheels) and 8700kms. I payed $99k for it, which sounds like a lot for US guys, but cars in Australia are expensive (and exchange rate). I could sell it now as is (25000kms) privately for about $125k privately. New price in the configurator is $195k drive away. As I said, prices in Australia are crazy!

For me it was a stretch to buy it used at the price it was. No way I could have gone new or even today's used prices.

Dunno, probably about the same? I paid an ADM to get a locked in build date and delivery in a few months. Was worth it to me, probably not to others.

Can't put a price on the feeling when you turn the key, fire up some 80's retrowave and take it for a spin.

It’s hard to tell, because you can no longer option deviated stitching.
Interesting exercise. Mine came out at $95K, but stickered for $80k in 2018. If I bought today I would get better lights (PDLS standard) but otherwise it would be the same car.

I have the window sticker for my car, MSRP in 2018 was $70,470. So today's price is about 13% more than original MSRP. But since it sat unsold at the dealer for about 10 months (May 2022 build, in-service date 5/28/2019), I seriously doubt that the original owner paid MSRP. (Pre-pandemic world, a totally different situation than today.) In any case, I thought $55k was a fair price in early 2022.

Tack on tax & registration to get your out-the-door price. Probably another $5-8k? $55k is a great deal! Mine happened to be such a crazy deal that I was willing to fly to East Texas (from CA) to get it.

No sales tax in Oregon, where I live and where mine was originally purchased. Oregon title and registration for the first 4 years is about $400.
In the UK I paid £75k for mine in March of ‘22. If I were to buy it today it would be £82500 including the first years road fund licence.
Needless to say, we in doors has said that if that would have been the price then I wouldn’t have had permission to buy one.
Something to bear in mind though is that a lot of options that I ordered then are now standard.
Options packages aren't exactly the same but our 18 Boxster S 6-speed was $86k new and now would be about $101k.
Not quite an apples-apples comparison but our 2018 2.5T CGTS cost us $85K. The current configurator price for the 4.0 CGTS configured approximately the same is $109K.
FWIW
Can't buy mine anymore, so no idea.

As close as I can get, as the options have changed, but close to £80,000 "on the road", UK taxes paid.
The car was registered in November 2016, I've no idea how much it was.
I paid £52,000 in July 2022, with 11050 miles run, effectively a new car.
As has been said, I'd never have got clearance at £80,000!!
My '23 CGTS (delivery in Feb '23) would cost $4,110 more with the new price increases that have gone into effect for the MY '24

and there's a couple of items no longer offered that would have added more
  • deviated color leather seat centers
  • deviated stitching for Steering Column Casing in leather ("blind" stitching in black is what available now)

which would probably be ~ $4.8 - 4.9k higher in price if those were still offered
My car new in 2017 was $69k. Now with the same options it would be $83,600. Quite the jump, especially figuring a bunch of the options my car was specced with are now standard.

the value of $69K in 2017 converted to 2023 dollars amounts to $85.4K - so today's car would be a little less costly. The march of inflation over the years...
2018 Boxster S
MSRP = $94.5K
Bought w/ 6K miles 2 years ago = $65K
This is the closest config #:

Would never pay that and I love my car.

Same (along with PDLS+) with our BGTS.
