Hey everyone - I'm looking to purchase a base 718 Boxster in the next 3-4 months. I'm thinking of probably going used to try to keep it at/around $50k while still having nice options (PDK the only must; would love to get sport/ventilated seats and Bose/ApplePlay upgrades).

I'm looking for tips from others that have bought used: what was your shopping strategy, and do you have any tips to get the best deal? Are sites like Autotrader or Carfax the best places to look? Stick to the National Porsche Pre-Owned Portal instead? Any other strategies or tips? CPO would be nice, but as long as there's still warranty left it's probably ok?

You will definitly have a fun search! And well worth it when the right one comes along!!
Many avenues to search for good used Boxsters....I searched a lot on line and found my '17 base car on CarMax. 8,000 miles, beautiful condition. Original sticker price was $73,000 with PDK, 14 way seats, 19" wheels, full leather interior, connect, pre-paid service contract.
No haggle price was under $48,000 ! Easy sale, no suprises and one happy new owner

I used Autotrader and Porsche's pre-owned car locator. There used to be a time when you could locate new cars through a nationwide dealer search tool on the manufacturer's home page but dealerships had those removed so Autotrader is probably best to find new inventory cars. I searched Carmax, Cargurus, and Cars.com too. Carmax inventory is pretty much all PDK cars and I was looking for a manual but that may work out well for you. Cargurus lists some cars that aren't on Autotrader or Cars.com but mostly from independent dealerships selling off-lease cars. I could not get Cars.com to pull up Caymans newer than 2016.

You can also go into your local dealer depending on how nice they are and ask them to run a nationwide search for inventory cars with the options you want. I have three Porsche stores in my vicinity with one who doesn't even want to give me the time of day but another who is always happy to help. They know supply is low on 718 so they did not bother to sell me on something they had that I didn't really want and were happy to tell me where the cars that were close to what I was looking for were located so I can make the outreach to those dealers myself.

I ended going the CPO route and found my car on Porsche's pre-owned locator tool.
