Individual Mode (Sport Chrono): Which settings did you choose ?

Hi everyone,

I couldn't find any discussion to this effect and maybe you can help me.

I am supposed to get my 718 before the end of this month (February). It has SC. My impression is that the three programmed modes are suffisant. Then comes the individual mode and I am wondering which settings you chose. I found this on the net:

I thank you all in advance!!

I got:
sport+
pse
Don’t use the individual mode at all. I start the car up disengage the auto stop/start and drive in normal mode until the engine oil temp is about 194 degrees then I mostly drive in Sport mode.

I never use individual mode. I drive in normal mode 99% of the time. I find that the other modes require you to be much more aggressive, and around here, besides the odd on/off ramp to a highway, there isn't the space for that.
I'm not the OP but have a related question...sorry.

Does anybody know if the individual mode can be configured to be:

Drive mode: "Sport"
PSE "off"

or does the "Sport" automatically engage the PSE to "on"?

I guess what I am really looking for is the sport mode with no backfire. I am waiting for my car also ;)

If you have a car without the Pse you get backfire, AND a higher exaust note in sport.
So in sport with the Pse it only gets louder.
And Sport Always have the backfire.

Imho the Pse is just a waste of Money!
Disconnect the sound aktor and you hear how much it realy adds, and its not much.
In Sport your hear it, in normal its just a tad louder and in sport+ its the same as normal.

I would like to have the note and volume that you get in Sport, but not the backfire....
Actually, I am wondering if I could have this setting :

1- SPE on;
2- Backfires;
3- PASM on sport or normal mode;
4- Throttle response of the Sport Plus mode;
5- Quicker shifting (PDK) of the Sport Plus mode;
6- But I would like the PDK in automatic to shift at the same RPM as if in Sport mode (not the very high revs of the Sport Plus mode which is more for the track)

In other words, I would like a mix between the Sport mode and the Sport Plus mode of the SC. It is basically the Sport Plus mode but with the sound and the RPM of the Sport mode (in automatic). It is the equivalent of a setting I have in my BMW and its my favorite whenever I decide to drive in automatic.

Is this setting possible? I hope I am not complicating things to much...

Many thanks!!!

If I remember correctly, when I drove the S model with PSE in Sport mode, I was able to manually put PSE off and it stayed in Sport mode. Somebody should confirm that as I am not absolutely sure. But if it is possible, I suppose you could set that way in the Individual mode.

You still have the backfire.
And as i said above, in sport the car gets louder even without PSE.

No you cant.
As i mention above you only get the Realy loud exhaust in Sport (with or without PSE)
Choose sport+ and you have locked the car in that mode regarding sound and shift times.
Sport+ is for track use and backfire aint very productive on the track..

The best solution would be to shift manually.

OKAY! So, I understand that I have to choose between the different existing modes (Normal, Sport, Sport +) and that I can not dissect one of the modes to choose some of its sub-parameters.

Thanks for that !!!!
on the freeway i'm on normal. "daily" driving i'm always in sport mode. when i wanna have some fun i go to sport plus. track is always sport plus. i haven't found a need to set up things individually, twisting the knob is good enough for me :)

I set my individual settings, but rarely have I used them. You still have to twist the knob even when you have set up individual & sport is mainly all I require. It's a very minor point, but one factor that some may want to take into account is that left to its own devices I believe the spoiler deploys at around 75mph? In the U.K with our maximum 70mph speed limits that means that every time a spoiler deploys it's also effectively grassing you up for exceeding the speed limit. Setting it to permanently deployed on your individual settings would at least stop it telling tales. :D

The only thing you can change is the Pse on/of
But you still have backfire in sport and its louder then the other modes even with pse turned off.

Our highway speed limits here range from 50-65 mph. So 70 would be a welcome improvement!

Note that most people completely ignore the speed limit and drive in the 70-80 mph range, and the police don't seem to care. Much above 80 and you are likely to get pulled over fast though.

Good point. When in the UK, I found that on the M's 70 in the RH lanes would quickly get you run over ... really no secret that some serious speeding was in play.
Thank you all. I got all the answers I needed. I really appreciate this forum!!

To revive what people who do use Individual mode have chosen for that mode: Sport+ (which brings Autostop off and PSE on with it), and then PASM de-selected, back to the normal chassis mode. It would be the same, I think, as turning our German mannetino's to Sport+, and then turning off the PASM light. I should add that I'm driving in manual mode; I don't think I'd like Sport+ on the street in Drive mode.

I find the exhaust, with the top down, to be remarkably quiet, and so I look to have PSE on all the time, really. My individual mode gives me the option to turn off the burble/pop while optimizing performance.
Personally, I just use individual mode as a easier way to turn off auto stop-start. Thats all I have set. I just find it easier to remember to twirl the dial first thing in the car as a opposed to pressing the stupid button.
My individual mode settings are set to Sport, PSE off and stop-start off.
I do find that in Sport and PSE off, the backfire is greatly muffled.
