So my 2018 718 base (delivered April 2018) decided to flash the following message: "5200 miles or 25 days " to oil service. So it is not quite 2 year from the day it was put into service. When does the clock start? Also, does Porsche NA frown upon indie oil changes? Can i do this outside a dealership and not screw up the warranty? Any experience with that? Thank you!

The current mileage is 10300 miles.

I understand this price varies from dealership to dealership ..so i guess i am in the hole for $1K or so :)

5,200 miles in 25 days is 208 miles a day. using rounded numbers and 30 days in a month you are averaging just over 21 miles a day ([10300 miles / 16 months] / 30 days). that sure seems like some weird calculations the car is doing.

Remember that service intervals that the car is working on is 10k miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. In this case, the 1 year came first (since it was last reset).

i was going based off his info which did not indicate it had had any previous oil change, or service to be rest for that matter.

so just flashing the message now of 5200 miles or 25 days after 16 months and over 10k miles is weird, and seems to negate the pre-programmed (if you will) 1 year/10k interval. if mileage played out it would be 15,500. it does support a 2 year interval as the op is nearing that point in the cars life.

who knows, maybe i'm wrong about everything :)

Thanks for the replies and input.

I reviewed the service records.

the 10K oil change was done at 5660 on 9/13/2018 (so this might be the 1 year trigger for the next one even though the mileage since the last one has not equalled to or surpassed 10K)
