Hi
I'll be picking up my Boxster GTS 4.0 in the summer and I've started looking at insurance quotes.

Do you have any recommendations, ones to avoid, are performance "specialists" worth it etc.?

I've seen that Porsche themselves provide insurance - worth a look? - From experience I usually find that dealer insurance polices are way more expensive
Many thanks in advance for any advice the collective can provide

Use the same comparison sites you’d use for a normal car. I did a a GTS quote a week ago and it was not much more expensive than my base Cayman so around £500-600 and that was with admiral. I’ve a friend who insures his GT4 with them and he’s just paid £640.

This year I changed to Leland West from Hagerty when their rates went up a lot. Quite affordable for my 2 cars at currant values!

I flip between Hiscox, AIB, Locktons for quotes as I want agreed value policies. This year for me Hiscox was best.

Churchill was £600 and Porsche insurance was over £1200. Price comparison sites can leave you with policies that lack certain cover so check the details etc...

I'm with LV and the additional cost to my multi-car policy (4 cars) is around £300 (although it's a 2.0 base, not GTS). They also replace the car if it's written off in the 1st year so no need for initial GAP cover.

is that typical?

One question. Is this your first Porsche? I've found that the first years insurance on a car I've never owned before can be a little high and then it 'sort of' drops in subsequent years. I can only put this down to the fact that you've had it and not made a claim.

With my insurance renewal due in 6 weeks I've probably gone an jinxed the crap out of it now!

Much the same experience as the reply you've already had from Felton Butler - I've just taken out a policy with LV on my Boxter GTS 2.5 for around £330 p/a, which I thought was very reasonable when considering that last year I paid over £450 p/a for my AMG SLC43. I did consider the dealer Porsche policy at £550 p/a as one of the stated selling points was that they would only use specialist Porsche technicians to carry out any repairs. However, when I looked at the small print the wording was actually Porsche trained or Porsche "approved" technicians - so basically anybody!
