Out of ignorance, I’ve been reluctant to do anything...but am sure it’s time. What are
the best products for use on the interior leather (Leather Package in Black - with ventilated seats) and the plastic?

Now, I have the time....?

Please note I am by far not a professional but have had many a sessions with a few and did my share of research and learnings. With that disclaimer out of the way,...

Always give the leather a cleaning with a dedicated cleaner. Try to steer clear of an all in one.
  • Give the leather a hoover, especially in the crevices with a soft brush attachment and ensure all debris is removed
  • Use a dedicated cleaner and soft boars hair brush to help lift the dirt. Use a clean cloth to wipe up and do a small section at a time. Be sure not to put too much pressure.
  • Now the leather is ready for any leather feed/conditioner but use sparingly.

I've been using Swissvax on the Morgan and other cars. I did a mates BMW with a deep red interior and it literally went from looking OK to brand new. They also have something called Elephant Fat that isn't something you want to use too often. Like leather conditioner, it's not something you want to use weekly else your leather starts to look wet and greasy. It should look matte if done properly.

Many great Swissvax vids on youtube. You don't need to use their product but their methodology is a good one to follow, IMHO.

Happy cleaning :)

Looks like some good advice there.

P.S. Love the fact that you've used the word hoover. It is well known to me as a term for childhood chores. Not sure it is used that much anymore. Wonder what the modern day equivalent would be? Maybe 'Dyson' the house?

P.P.S. I see the OP used the same word. Perhaps 'hoover' is a British phrase. I was born in one of the colonies but my lineage is very much from the UK (Scottish mother, while my fathers side is English and Irish).

By the way I think this is a very good topic. There are so many threads on exterior care (for good reason), but interior care is equally important. Personally I keep my interior cleaning regime pretty straight forward but think i need to up my game with all the leather in my current car.

First, the business end of this note. I do not have a leather interior so I don't do much to it. I do hit the carpets and dust-collecting crannies with a "vacuum cleaner".

It's a Nilfisk, not a Dyson or Ortag (Edit: I think that should be Oreck, or something), nor even a Hoover. A generation ago it might have been an Electrolux but apparently they don't make vacuum cleaners anymore.

Of course this calls to mind the joke:
"If someone calls your name in a vacuum can you still hear it?"
"It depends on whether the vacuum is running at the time."

That joke doesn't work as "If someone calls your name in a hoover..."
You gotta' love language.

I use McKee's 37 Total Interior Cleaner and McKee's 37 Interior Surface Protectant.

In my opinion, there is no leather in our cars, short of the "Natural Leather" option. Our "leather" has a fragile layer of plastic laminated onto a leather-based analogue of fiberboard. The "leather", the soft touch, the "vinyl", and the plastic all present non-porous plastic surfaces. I can't see any reason not to use combination interior cleaners and conditioners.

I have found a vacuum that I'm quite pleased with: Metro Vac N' Go 500 High Performance Hand Vac. It's one of their more powerful plug-in models, and it's a nice combination of small size/light weight/performance.

I have an American hoover and had it for years Dyson not as good for the car its a Kirby heritage 2 the rolls royce of hoovers lol
I use www.liquidleather.co.uk and use the cleanser gel after hoovering then put on the conditioner after that and let it dry it cleans and gives a nice matt finish and it gives a natural leather smell too
I also use AutoGlym leather conditioning cream too
I have still to do the convertible roof but rinse and hoover only at the moment ?

At what frequency do you do the interior cleaning ? Once a month ? twice a year ? ... (I have no clue).

I am about a year with the car and using it pretty much every day, and I still find the interior clean. I have a problem with that, I can spot the smallest spec of dirt on the outside of the car, but on the inside, unless it goes realy bad, really really bad, to me, its clean ( ... same with the inside of the house, at my wife exasperation. ). I think following a straight schedule would help.

As far as product goes though, my car came with a Gtech box, which include many interior care products for all kind of materials.

As an early sign of memory loss, I was carrying a few dry Swiffer sweeping cloths in the car that were great at whacking that dead skin dust off of everything, but then I got my hands dirty and wet and ...

Haha, I clean my interiors (both cars here, vacuum and wipe downs) every weekend. I use 303 Protectant on everything except steering wheel.

Every 3 months I do a separate wipe down in Pcar with Grechniq interior protectant, including steering wheel.

I’m clearly anal, but with the Pcar I’m especially weary of ingress/egress wear/tear on the seat bolsters.
