Well after saying to myself for over a year that I’d never buy a 4 cylinder Porsche, my new, and 11th Porsche is a 718 GTS that I pickup on Saturday. Coming out of a 981 GTS and previously had a 991.2 GTS and various 991s, 997s and Boxsters over the years.

And having driven a 718 I cannot wait to get it ... speed and precision were impressive to say the least and the sound is just different, a great sound, just different.

Carmine and red GTS interior. Will post some pics and let you know how I’m getting on!

Great forum by the way!

Good choice and enjoy the collection

Very interested in your comparisons and thoughts between the 981 and 718 and escpecially why you opted out of a 991.2 GTS.
991 was great but I change my cars quite regularly and got a great offer for it, pretty much what I paid for it after 6 months so took the opportunity to change. It’s was also ridiculously quick and you couldn’t exercise it properly on UK roads

Congrats on your purchase! I'd imagine the 718 GTS will shine on your narrow UK B roads and will feel a little less weighty that the 991.2.

Look forward to seeing the photos. I think the red GTS interior really completes the car. Will be interesting to hear more of your feedback once you get more drive time given your time in the 991.2.

Welcome to the fold. Great car. You sadly won't have an opportunity to exercise the 718 either 0:). It is in license losing territory before you're out of 3rd gear.

And finally someone on the forum closer to me in the UK. If you're up to join a bunch of us for a meet we do so from time to time. So far the midland boys have won on locations. I'd be pushing for a more southerly meet now there are 2 in the southeast >:D

Sure ... I’ll be up for that, my little brother has just ordered a 992 too so he’ll probably come along too

@Mrcraigcharlton lovely pics. @drjohn will have to do a double take if you and his Bs are parked next to eachother. uncanny. I love Goodwood and wouldn't mind suggesting it (in fact I'll post shortly in the relevant thread). Alternatively the George at Burpham. Enjoy the pic up.Your car is the first "19" plate I've seen.

Got it and it’s fabulous ... steering, ride, precision and performance are streets ahead of the 981 ... took it down to Brighton and back. Yes the sound is different but not bad, the only time I noticed anything annoying was doing 50 on the M23 in the roadworks in 7th when it was a little clattery but dropped a cog and it went away. And the revelation ... I prefer it the the 991.2 GTS ... it’s lighter and you do have to work it a little more, but not much more!

You guys are lucky. I like the clear side marker lights. That's going to be the first mods on My CGTS. The orangey ones don't do it for me if you know what I mean.
My 718C has the orangey ones. I notice some details on a car, and I never see others. The color of the side markers falls under the second category. After over half a century of driving cars built or designed in several continents, I've seen so many different light styles and colors that unless they are just stylistically wrong they blend into the body.
