My local german specialist shop charges about $190 for an oil change. Called the local Porsche dealer (I'm in a suburb of Cleveland, OH so not high cost area). $330!!! I told him no thanks and I'll be using the local indy shop 4 miles from them. He was nice and apologized for the "slightly" higher cost vs. the $190 I told. Oh well....they will get my warranty work. It's too bad they are so expensive because they have a nice facility and I've only had good experiences at this dealership on this 718 and other cars (almost all warranty work).

Optical TDI - can you share your German specialty shop? I am in the Eastern Suburbs of CLE - thanks

My dealer wanted about $300 for an oil change and $550 to install a short shift kit. My independent mechanic was $275 for both of these jobs combined...
I did the short shift install myself after the dealer quoted me over $600. Took me maybe 45 minutes going slowly. Super easy. Best modification ever.

I'm on the westside and use HS Tuning in Westlake (only Porsche, Audi, and VW). Small shop mostly upgrades, all enthusiasts, chat with the owner anytime and go back in the service area if you want. Have you checked Steinels in Twinsburg? There's also a newer place somewhere eastside that I read about in the the "Voices" monthly local PCA mailer.

Wow, $780. There must be a dealer charging $1,000 somewhere? And I thought $330 was too high...
D.C.-privilege markup. Tysons Corner is the epicenter of conspicuous consumption in the Beltway. Not surprised in the least by that quote.

(By the way: oil change at my indie = $185, and that's using better (and more expensive) Liqui Moly oil.)

Porsche Tysons in Northern VA quoted us $780. We go to a local place that charges us $265. The owner is a PCA member and has been working on Porsche’s for over 20 years.
Cipher, I am waiting on an allocation from the Tysons dealer. They did mention the price of an oil change being $780. I will get the first one for “free”. It would be great to find a local shop though if you could share.

Looks like Cipher was last seen on the forum 6 months ago. I recommend checking with your local PCA. They should have info on independent dealers. Good luck.

It is about that here.

I still go to the dealer though - I like checking out the new cars, and getting one as a loaner, and just talking with the sales reps.
have to admit, this is spot on And totally what I do.
local wise is good and although I got a good quote for the work, no loaner available Which just did not work for me. Next one I approached, loaner was a yes but a 3cyl shopping trolley was what was on offer. Yes, it’s now a total snob thing but I paid for and own a 718 to enjoy a 718 or at least equivalent imho. So a loaner panamera 4S as I had the last time my car went in did the job perfectly thank you very much 😎

That's no SBM Panamera, but standards are standards...quite nicely done!

Sheesh. My local independent owned by a gold certified Porsche master tech (who also does the work on all Porsches brought into the shop) is charging me $700 for the complete 4 yr service (oil/filter; cabin, pollen, air filters; coolant flush, brake flush, spark plug change) with my supplied materials (which cost $325). Total cost of $1025 is way better than ~$2000 the dealership wants.
