Hey all - bought a Certified 718 Boxster that still had a little factory warranty left.

Noticed what looked like shattering on the inside of the headlight on the lens.(only seen at night with headlight on) Looked like someone took sandpaper to the inside of the lens on both of my headlights seen only when the headlight was on.
The dealer said they have seen a few of these come in on 718 models.

Porsche will cover while under Factory Warranty - and at nearly $2,500 per headlight so happy they did.

Just telling you all to look at your headlights when turned on to see if you see this and take action while under warranty.
And of course always inspect for condensation..

Hi OP. Can you post how it was referenced in the repair schedule? Obviously delete any revealing in fo, but seeing the actual terminology would help. The lens on my car has this symptom and would like to have it addressed under warranty. It would be nice to have this ahead of time before visiting a dealer for service.

Agreed, and especially if you have pics of the problem appearance, thanks

Would you be willing to post your photos here? Just for my peace of mind... I feel like I am reading a medical encyclopedia and diagnosing myself with every ailment I just read about... :p

I got a response of the Workshop Manager at the dealership I bought the car from. They want me to book a service appointment (1 week in advance) so that the "Porsche Support Team" can examine the headlights and make a decision about warranty coverage. Unfortunately the dealership is a 4.5 hour drive (each way).

Is there not a dealer closer? Surely the warranty can be serviced anywhere.

Both my headlights were defective with some short of weird spidering from inside lenses. After replacement, my day time led running lights are very distinctively two different colors. The driver side led's give off a ugly yellow hue while the passenger side is blue. What a joke! Working with PCNA and dealer for second set of headlights. One would think Porsche would have better quality control and at least install two darn matching lights!

I had a couple 981 Boxsters, never had a problem with the headlights, we still have our 2016 Macan, also no problem with the headlights... I was aware of other who did have issues, some replaced under warranty other not, it did not look the same as this problem, it was the outer coating cracking and coming off.

Fast forward to the 718 series, I had hoped that Porsche had figured this out, perhaps they did with the external coating but something is not right inside now... :(
