I just discovered my spare key fob, never is used to start the car but frequently in the car (carried in the mysterious abyss of my GF's hand bang along with untold other detritus), does not work. The light on the fob blinks and the car knows the difference when I replace the blank fob with it but it still will not start the car or lock/unlock any opening. I know it worked up until recently because my GF unlocks the car when she touches the passenger door handle. I replaced the battery even though the car is only five months old. The original battery tested good and it still does not work.
This appears to be a common problem based on my google search but none of the many solutions offered work. I would appreciate any informed thoughts what is going on here because the nearest dealer is 70 miles away and even if they were closer dealing with a dealer service department is never good fun.
