Looking for opinions on this exterior color-matched interior trim. I think I like it, but for about $1000 USD for OEM parts, it feels like a lot of money when I’m not 100% sold on it. Has anyone else gone this route and wish they had not? Wondering what percentage of the cost I could recoup if I decided to sell it. It’s my understanding these parts are the same for 991s. BTW, I currently have the standard painted aluminum looking trim.

Personally, I think the painted trim looks nice. I find the plastic silver trim to be boring and hackneyed. It's what people get when they buy their cars off the lot... bland and generic.

If you are trying to justify this expense from a dollars and cents perspective, I think you are barking up the wrong tree. You need to spend the money because you like it and it makes for a better driving experience. If you think this is an "investment" rather than an "expense", well...I wouldn't....

I guess I would prefer to see it in person so I’m sure I like it before spending $1k.

If you like it, do it! I opted for the painted trim with the full leather interior in my 982 but of course, black is a bit more subtle than lava orange. My 981 has the standard silver trim and I wanted more with the new Cayman.

Since the dash and console pieces can be purchased separately, why not get the dash pieces first and see how you like it? These are more in your field of vision than the console which would then blend in with the rest of the interior.

I generally like it. My wife loves it. I think it does kind of finish the car to some extent. But other than Red or Orange, I wouldn’t pay for it. If you buy a silver, black or Chalk car for example, I don’t think it will contrast enough in the interior compared to the standard trim. It breaks up all the black inside the car. Now if you get anything other than black interior, I would leave the trim as is and not upgrade.

I’ve been contemplating doing this in Sapphire Blue Metallic. There is effectively no tangible investment value added in doing this mod. The intangible “I think it would look great” would be my sole rationale. FWIW, I say follow your heart on this one.

I may be reading this wrong. Can you buy the console faces later, after the car delivery, from the dealership?

I'd love to replace the dark grey, difficult to read console faces with white.

Yes, the gauge faces can be changed.

I meant the trim on the console between the seats surrounding the shifter and all the buttons. Might be dating myself with that meaning but that is what we called those things way back in the day!

You can’t see the gray in bright sunshine and can’t read the numbers!... Black would only make it worse!

I want white gauges!
There's nothing worse than the gray ones.
There's very little contrast between the background and the numbers.
White numbers on black gauge face is much more legible.

But I agree, white face would be best.
That would be my choice.
