Has anyone logged 40,000 miles or more with their 718C or 781B , base or S? I drove my 17CS about 29,000 miles and my current '18 base Cayman has about 13,000 miles. Both have run flawlessly. Neither has ever used a drop of oil. Both are PDK equipped and the base gets outstanding trip mpg. Just curious about some of other owners' experience.

My experience from shopping and owning Porsches for more decades than I care to think about, is that 40,000 miles on any model that is only three years old is the rare exception. It seems to me most Porsche sports cars are relegated to sitting in garages and being washed often. I certainly understand the reasons why, but it's also a bit of a shame. If any car is built to be driven frequently, it's a Porsche. I'm sure there are some 718s out there that are at or near 40K miles, but my bet is they are few (perhaps more leased than owned?) and far between.

'17 718CS that I picked up new on April 28, 2018. I'm at 39,100, will have likely hit that number by the 2 year ownership mark next month. 40 track days. Numerous road trips. I work from home so not a single mile has been commuting. Had a lot of fun with this car.

When someone is in the market for a '17 CS in 2-3 years and they see the cheapest example with almost 100k miles it'll be a Lava Orange 6 speed

I have about 15,500 miles on my 2018 Cayman, have owned it 20 months. Other than the first two oil change/service, a tearing piece of door trim, and broken stitching on the steering wheel it has needed no attention. I put gas in it, drive it, and smile.

Bought mine (2018 purchased in late '19) used with only 4400 miles on it....that was a selling point to me but I use it as a daily driver.
Now, my 911 SC has 278k on it and it runs flawlessly :)
Wow, 278k is impressive. How long have you had that? I was a compulsive car flipper but with the Cayman I've stopped as the only mid engine cars that I would consider 'better' I can't afford and certainly couldn't put miles on like this. Might hold onto this one long term, especially if the next generation loses the manual (or goes electric).

I have yet to see any problems with these engines, unlike many of the fours and sixes in years past. I have owned 2 912s, 2 944s, 2 911s and a Carrera 2. All were maintenance headaches. For some reason, it was an accepted fact of ownership at the time.

I am 2nd owner to a 2017 - 718 Boxster base w/PDK. I have all previous records from previous owner (no issues - but a rattle that was fixed where door trim had to be popped back into place).
Just rolled odometer over 40k.

No issues !!!
Just basic maintenance. Oh and of course a couple upgrades like Soul Performance Exhaust change.

I'm at 45.5k miles now. Had an O2 sensor fail at around 41k miles and the prior caretaker of my car had lots of well documented overheating issues, but seems to be all well sorted out now. Oh yeah, there was a melting plastic smell too coming from the rear right of the car. Took the wheel off and found that a bunch of that yellow plastic caution/po-po/do-not-cross tape had wrapped around some exhaust heat shields. That was a PITA to clean up with a wire brush.
I've only done one oil change so far, but it was pretty straightforward to accomplish on my MT6 car and on a 4 post lift. The car is still an absolute riot to drive.

Thanks for your responses. I really enjoy my '18 Cayman Base PDK and was just curious if there was anything to look out for. It seems to me that the overheating issue in the '17s was an easy fix and has been fixed in the 18s and later.

2018 GTS PDK bought mid 2018. 15000 miles and 29 track days between Road Atlanta, VIR and CMP. Changed brakes to Giro discs after 18 track days due to cracks in rotors- probably could have gotten a few more track days if I wanted but I like brakes that work:) Used as a daily driver and drove to track days for the first 1 1/2 years. Had a scare with low coolant after a long track weekend in mid summer so decided to trailer for future events.
No problems what so ever. Bullet proof so far and I'm impressed! Porsche overbuilds and it shows.
