an update....

i bought the liner, the touchup paint and the key fob. the keyfob is really what i wanted. the touchup paint may come in handy at some point but as i have almost 100% coverage with PPF and ceramic coating it will most likely sit in the garage. the trunk liner was on my wish list, but since i was buying the other items i decided to get them all at once.

payment was sent on 7/26/19. most of the items were shipped to me on 7/30/19. the package arrived this morning.

when i opened it there was the liner, complete with dirt and hairs all over it. you couldn't take 30 seconds to wipe it down before shipping?

the paint was rolled up in news paper and taped to the side of the box.

the keyfob was nowhere in sight.

i texted alex immediately who first told me the keyfob was in another box that was taped to the main box next to the paint. it was not.

alex then told me it was taped to the center of the box. it was not.

then alex told me it was taped to the trunk liner, it was not.

alex then said he was sorry that i cannot find it in the box (because it wasn't there) but because he was giving it away for "free" that was that. he went on to tell me that he had cleaned it and did not own any pets. i guess that means that after the sealed package was given to UPS someone opened it, took out the keyfob cover, rubbed an animal of some sorts all over the liner, put it back in the box, retaped it (though there was no evidence of it being retaped) and sent it to me. sure, that happens almost daily with items being shipped, right?

i will say that alex did offer to essentially split the shipping costs with me as they were relatively high for such a light item. due to size it went over the ups limits for normal shipping costs. i believe this was done more so to obtain the sale than anything else.

so word to the wise - be careful making any purchases from this seller, or really anyone online that has not been vetted by the board via some sort of a sales feedback system. i did and i did not have a pleasant experience, lesson learned on my part. i expected a better experience from not only a fellow porsche owner but a forum member as well. not only did i not get everything i was supposed to but he couldn't even take 30 seconds to wipe off all the hair, and god only knows where/who/what that came from.

the cost of the keyfob is not the issue (they are around $10 on ebay). the fact that i did not get what i was promised, and what did come was kind of disgusting being coated in hair, is the key takeaway item here. if the roles were reversed i would have immediately offered a $10 refund to cover the minor costs of the keyfob item but apparently alex and i do not approach online sales to other porsche owners in the same way. i make sure that the other party is completely satisfied in every possible way. alex doesn't care after he receives payment based upon his actions and commentary.

To clarify the "white plastic key fob" is not an actual key fob but remote key caps which are similar to the link below. If there was confusion as to what I listed for sale pictures could have been requested.
Porsche Key side blade caps

I have texted with Kris several times and has now filed a Paypal dispute against me for the entire amount of $160 ($120 Liner + $20 Touch up Paint + $0 white plastic key sides + $20 to cover a small portion of shipping the trunk liner as it is a large item requiring a large box which was ~$60). I will gladly accept & refund the cost Trunk Liner and Touch up paint back (if he agrees to ship the items back to me at his expense in no worse condition than that in which he received) which he has not offered as a possible solution and jumped directly to a dispute.
When packaged I included all three items in one shipping box (frunk liner with paint and small black box containing the key sides taped to the inside). Kris states that the paint was taped to the inside of the box which is not I how I packaged the items. Could the paint have been attached to the box as it may have been shifted during delivery, sure. However I used a 10 inch long piece of 2" wide clear shipping tape to secure the items inside the middle of the frunk liner. Should I have taken pictures for proof prior to shipping, yes, but that would only be as good as my word in this instance. The two out of three items which he claims he has only received were received by him in the exact conditions I listed above "used - like new" front trunk liner which was wiped down with a damp microfiber cloth before packaging and "never used" white touch up paint which I neatly wrapped in news paper for shipping to eliminate any potential spills.
He claims he really only wanted the white key shell which was listed for FREE
  • ($Free - Local pickup preferred will ship at buyers expense) White plastic key fob cover purchased from eBay. I purchased 2 sets but only ever installed 1.
but proceeded to purchase an additional $140 dollars worth of items (and agree to pay an additional $20 for shipping) that he claims he "didn't really want". And now accuses me of not shipping an item that I was providing him free of charge included with the frunk liner. Which for $10 could have easily been purchased at any time elsewhere, though not the point.
I was offering the item for free to the enthusiast community/forum (I also listed the T-Design9 Magnetic phone mount ($89 cost) for free and was successfully delivered to @MikePhDPE) as a kind gesture, but from now on I will no longer do so, and just toss them in the trash, as this is not worth my time nor hassle.
This whole matter comes down to the individuals word, which does not mean much to Kris, as he does not believe me. Again Kris states the item that I shipped & provided to him free of cost with the two other items he purchased is missing and demands that I refund the total amount for the two items that he has in his possession (and has sent me pictures & posted them here in the discussion for proof).
I have not had any issues with any of the other forum members who have purchased items from me (@GTS18BGTS @RadioZero @MikePhDPE @kirkb) and all seem to be pleased with the transaction that has occurred. Nor have i ever had any other complaints of online transactions which i have completed in the past.
Take what you may from my response, but I would not recommend doing any business with @nineball in the future.
I will be responding to his paypal dispute and escalate the matter to paypal claim remediation if so needed.

If i wasn't specific enough in my texts, i apologize. I was in the middle of a 3 hour long meeting and upset about the initial message received as i have never in my 29 years on this earth been accused of such a matter.
  • "included in a small black box that was taped next to the paint" as i do not know how the paint became taped to the inside of the box instead of inside the frunk liner i understand how this may be confusing
  • "it was taped inside the center of the box" this was my mistake for not elaborating as i meant (box = frunk liner), again being upset i may have rushed my response
  • "it is taped directly to the trunk liner" followed by a more detailed explanation "the paint was in the middle left ridges wraped in paper and the small black box was taped to the middle right section" if you have ever seen a frunk liner it is not a flat smooth surface on the bottom as split into tiny sections (see below)

Vehicle Trunk Car Auto part

Again, as we both mentioned, i stated that i shipped all three items, you that only two were received. However your statement seems to change below.

As for the paypal dispute/claim, first message I received from paypal at 2:56pm indicating that you did not receive the merchandise which agrees to your initial message sent to me.

Text Font Line

Second notification from Paypal at 5:24pm changing your initial statement of "Item not received" to "Not as described" with a refund amount of $160. Now this invalidates your entire accusation as you are now saying you received the item but it was not as described. The one thing i may agree with you is that my description of the item may not have been as descriptive as it could have been, but then again, for an item that i was giving away for free, it never would have crossed my mind the need to elaborate without someone requesting additional information. "White plastic key fob cover purchased from eBay. I purchased 2 sets but only ever installed 1." however i also noted in my initial listing that I "Will provide pictures upon request". If you assumed that you would be receiving a item different than that which was listed (which i now believe is the case) you should have requested additional details or a picture of the item, "caveat emptor".

Third notification at 5:25pm saying the amount requested is now $10. Now as i have never had to go through a claims process before, i do not know if this is the standard process or not. To me it appears that after you changed the status to "not as described" you also changed the amount requested. If i am incorrect about, i'll admit i am wrong, but that is how i interpret the message.

As for the shipping, good thing I save my receipts. As mentioned in one of my direct messages to you, the estimate to ship the item was $45, however the actual price was $54.41 (as it was a business address, not residential) and i had to purchase a box (which was a larger dimension than the actual frunk liner increasing the shipping cost) an additional ~$13 and purchased separately (total of ~$67) which i did not ask you to cover any more than the initial amount agreed to of $20.

Now going through this entire endeavor i have wasted over 2 hours of my time, of which i'm sure you have done the same. I find it laughable and immature that us two "Adults" are arguing over $10 when we both own/owned a vehicle with a starting price of over $60,000. However, now for me, it is not about the money, but the principle of the matter. More specifically, you calling me a liar. I am an honest man and would never intentionally mislead an individual or do them wrong and as such will continue to dispute the claim with you through paypal.

i realized who and what i was dealing with and decided to end it so i deleted my post but you just had to make another assumption didn't you.

i was in contact with paypal who asked me why i had requested only $10 on a $160 purchase. i directed them to the comment in the initial request and they informed me it had to be changed from item not received, which was the case just not all items, to items not as described. the shipping showed a package was delivered so that avenue was complete. that is their policy. they made the changes. every email you posted was a form email sent by them.

it was a good story though.

Gentlemen at this point I think we need to let this issue go. If you feel any additional back and forth is needed maybe private messaging each other would be appropriate but the reality is this matter is not going to be resolved with additional inflammatory posts; it's the proverbial dead horse.........
